New Russian mobilization in September?

Rumors are beginning to spread (fueled by some new laws in Russia coupled with some announcements from Moscow) of a new mass mobilization of Russian men to occur in September. The new draft will include men up to age 65 and could possibly impact as many as one million Russian men..
We can view it as proof of Russia's desperation and inability of their army to hold the lines in Ukraine with their present strength. It is not clear how such a sweeping round up of males in Russia will effect production in Russia's factories.
The new changes and announcements indicate that the call up orders may arrive by paper OR by electronic media OR both. Announcements by Moscow indicate that when a name is chosen for activation Border Police will be among the first notified and then other legal agencies involved. When that is done then the notifications will be sent out. I
n short if you are Russian you may already have been secretly drafted, but won't know of it until you show up at a border crossing trying to leave the country, or get pulled over for a traffic stop, or go to a bank to get a loan, etc. At that time you will be told you have been called up and turned over to the military. Or maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who first learns of it by email, which is better than a couple of guys in uniform knocking at your door to give you a piece of paper to read as they drag you away.
It is such fun being Russian these days.

President put to finger of Cuba orders attack against human rights defender

Embedded image from another site

On 08/29/2022, the Cuban human rights defender and peaceful opponent Yunior González Rosabal announced on his Facebook account, through a screenshot, the satellite view of the residence where Cuban dictator Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez lives. .

The social network used sanctioned the user for 24 hours without being able to make new publications or comments. After this period of time had passed, and in order for him to be able to use his account again, he had to accept that the publication be deleted because it was considered that it violated Facebook's community standards.

How violating could that post be? The answer lies with those who work in one of the social networks with the most users in the world while at the same time consenting to the violations of freedom of expression reflected in article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the Castro-communist tyranny , which says: "Every individual has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes the right not to be bothered because of their opinions, to investigate and receive information and opinions, and to disseminate them, without limitation of borders, by any means of expression."

What led Yunior to make the place where that residence is located visible to the public, adding the address and coordinates to the image? The dictator of Cuba, Díaz Canel, not only tyrannizes the Cuban people under the orders of the castros, since he is nothing more than a hand-picked president, but also manipulates the Cubans.

That man is used to asking the people to resist the painful situations faced by Cubans. He says it as someone who also participates in that resistance translated into sacrifice, to resist hunger, misery, the high cost of basic products, etc. but no, he asks her to resist while he lives as a rich capitalist, not to mention his family members.

Cubans suffer from internet censorship, the Cuban dictatorship ensures that the people do not have access to the necessary information and also represses those who dare to spread the news that others should know. We can take this case as an example.

Yunior was not only censored by the social network Facebook but also now faces charges for that publication. Although he has refused to sign and accept the fine that regime agents tried to impose on him, he has been threatened by them with going to prison.

What could have been so serious that Yunior's publication has resulted in his being arbitrarily arrested, threatened, fined and interrogated by state security officers, personal security officers and agents of the "Villa Marista" State Security Department, place of detention and torture of political prisoners in Cuba?

It would not be difficult to deduce that the human rights defender and peaceful opponent of all dictatorial and oppressive regimes, Yunior Glez. Rosabal, has had the audacity to show with that image, the double standard of Miguel Díaz Canel Bermudez, someone who asks a people to resist sacrifices while he and his family do not need to resist anything because they do not suffer the slightest need for more than trying to deceive the world through his cheeky speeches.

Yunior could go to prison for that post. All those people committed in one way or another to respect for Human Rights should show solidarity with him. He maintains a firm attitude, does not retract what he did and emphasizes that both the Cuban people and the world should know the lifestyle of the fraud who apparently acts as president of Cuba.

"I do not deny what I did nor do I regret it because I am sure I did what I had to despite knowing what I was exposing myself to with the bloody communist Castro dictatorship. Enough of the Cuban dictatorship deceiving the world. The truth is to be told And I, like all other human beings, have the right to freedom of expression."

SHARE SO THE WORLD KNOWS THIS CASE.

Oregon GOP legislator thrown out of office unanimously (except for his own vote).

From USA Today;

Oregon serves as a model for ultimately doing the right thing. Hopefully, it will motivate Congress to also take proper action to it's members who have supported the insurrection and inhibited investigation.

Ivanka "Not Wanted" posters

Apparently a comedy team has recently posted a number of posters featuring a photo of Ivanka Trump and some words indicating that they no longer want Ivanka living in New York.

While it is not her fault, that she is the daughter of the worst president in US history, nor how she was raised. However,
she has done her own misdeeds involving child labor laws violations in China and complicit behavior with regard to her father's crimes.

Ivanka is now seeking to move either to New Jersey (hopefully not) or to Florida, where her father moved this past year.

This is the poster finding it's way at various places in Manhattan;

Not only did Dirty Don lose his home state in both elections, but both he and his family are no longer welcomed there. New York is a tough state. They don't tolerate bullshit.
However, they will put up with a lot. For instance, the Jets are now 0 - 11.
Apparently, the Trump presidency was beyond the tipping point of.... no return.

My dislike for the FUZZ...

There are a few different stories over the years of how the invention to the distorted guitar sound called 'fuzz tone' came about. I'll go with Nashville studio engineer Glenn Snoddy's accidental invention Maestro Fuzz-Tone manufactured by (the guitar company) Gibson.

When guitar amplifiers were invented, it was typically low wattage (around 3 to 5 watts) using electron tubes (called valves in England) and small speakers. As guitarists began to play larger venues, they required bigger amplifiers. Jazz and Country Western music relied on a bright clean sound. If you were playing Rock & Roll, the desire for more volume often pushed the tubes beyond their wattage capacity of creating their natural ability to reproduce the incoming signal. When checking this on an oscilloscope, what would normally be a smooth sine-wave shape, would flatten the tops of the sine-wave.
Usually the circuits were based on a push-pull design with 2 tubes in unison. If they were capable of 10 watts each, the total output would be 20 watts. As you increase the volume, the clarity of the notes would disappear and a harsh sound would be created.
This coloration of sound actually became popular in the 1960's and if your amplifier didn't get 'dirty enough' I've hear stories where guitarists would use screwdrivers and poke holes into their speakers and crank the volume up to get their signature sound.

Eric Clapton playing with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers was notoriously disliked by the recording engineers. His studio volume was so much that it was getting into the mix of the other instruments. He wanted a sustain that could only come about from over-driving his gear. They had to put barriers and blankets around his amp to control the volume in the studio.

Enter the fuzz tone. It's a transistor device that plugs between a guitar and an amplifier and has circuitry to emulate an over-driven amplifier. Usually manufactured as a small metal box that rests on the floor and has a footswitch to activate it. You get the saturated sustain with harmonics like a large over-driven amplifier and not kill your audience of everything turned up to ten!

Who used a fuzz-tone? Nearly every electric guitarist on the planet. Since the device had controls for saturation and volume, every guitarist could dial in their very own sound and be the same as each other.

60 years later, there are several dozen versions of the fuzz-tone. Some change your tonal settings, some add reverb, some add tremolo, some have deeper and more distorted selections. It's mind-boggling the endless combinations.

I listed to a video today demonstrating some different models.
The guy doing the video is the owner and inventor for JHS Pedals. He goes through various sounds and can give advice to who used what fuzz so you can cut through the BS and purchase the same one that your guitar hero uses.

I'm not saying I dislike the sounds of Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bonamassa, I don't like listening to some ultra distorted metal bands where there is no clarity in their sound.

Weekend - and other things

Ah, here we are. At another weekend. What a week it has been. I was at work on Monday, but was sidelined for the following two days because of a cold. No energy, because lack of sleep, plus I also did not want everyone else to be sick, because I'm a good coworker. So my work week have only been three days long, but that doesn't mean I'm not tired today - because I am. Work today was hectic. I would say it's been the busiest Friday since I started working where I am now. On top of that, we have an election coming up in November, so all the ads have been VERY tiring to listen to. I might just vote what I usually vote.

In other news: I got my payslips today. Yes, payslips. "But Philipsen, you only have one job, right? Why do you get two payslips?", I hear you ask. That's an excellent question. Let me explain: Before I was hired on a permanent basis, I was a temp worker. I switched from working as a temp worker to work full time half way into a pay cycle. That means I am both getting a salary from the temp agency as well as my permanent job. I will not say how much I am getting paid. I will only say this:

Anyway. I'm not doing the job for the money. I'm on the lowest pay bracket, plus I am paying a little more in taxes than I should, which I am perfectly happy to do. That just means money back to me at the end of the tax year. Money I could use for savings, or for my upcoming trip to the USA.

So to sum up: Work is going good, I am happy and healthy.. Well, 98% healthy, anyway.. Life is good. I don't need anything else than that.

Well.. Maybe someone to share it with, but that's a topic for another blog :)
