The Message of the Crucifixion - Final

Embedded image from another site

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 NIV

Jesus died for our sins; He’s the only one who could have done it. Only the Son of God could pay for our sins on the cross. Only God Himself in His Son could have taken our sins in His own body on that tree and borne the suffering of a dying sinner and taken our punishment for us and suffered for us. Only God could have done that in the person of His Son Jesus.

God’s message was: “Only I can save you; you cannot save yourself!” Christ’s message was clear, His death was plain. The message of God was very clear throughout the Old and New Testaments—especially the New Testament, but very clear even in the Old Testament. Abraham was the father of the faithful because he was a man of faith, demonstrating faith that he couldn’t do it himself, he just had to have faith in God.

Tonight hundreds of millions of Christians around the world are commemorating the death of Jesus. And millions of others know it as well and are hearing about it, knowing that this is a very special holy week for Christians. Virtually the whole world is hearing the message, and even if they’re not Christians, even if they’re of other religions, they know that this is the Christians’ holy week and this is its holiest night of all.

Considering the extent of communications and the dissemination of information today, probably the whole world, in all countries, of all faiths, nationalities, and religions are hearing about this week and know that the Christians are celebrating their holiest days of the year, and they are at least getting a little tiny glimpse of the message of Christ or hearing about Jesus, even if they don’t understand it.

Millions of Christians who understand the message of Christ and His death are choosing this week and this night to commemorate this event, and of all the nights in the year, it seemed that we should celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the night in which He and His disciples celebrated that First Supper.

So we thank You for Your sacrifice, Lord, Your blood shed for the remission of our sins, the New Testament in Your blood which was shed for us on that tree that we are commemorating this night—Your suffering, Your love, that You died for us in our place. You took our punishment for us. Instead of us dying for our sins, You died for them, Lord. And we now attest and testify and witness our faith in You and Your death for us and Your sacrifice of Your blood for our salvation to wash away our sins.

What we’re commemorating should not be a sad event, but a happy one, because if it hadn’t been for tonight, we wouldn’t be saved. Praise the Lord for the night that Jesus died for us! He not only died for us, but He went down into the bowels of the earth, three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, and He preached to the souls in prison down there to give them a chance to be saved too. Think of it! Isn’t that wonderful? A lot of people don’t believe that, but I do. The Bible says so. So why not believe it?11

And then, praise God, come Sunday, we’ll be able to sing all those wonderful hymns about “Up from the grave He arose!” Let’s not just remember the death of the cross; let’s not always be seeing just a Christ on the cross and a crucifix, the suffering and the death. We don’t have a Jesus on the cross; He has left the cross! We have a bare cross. Jesus is no longer there! We don’t have a Christ in the grave. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”12 We don’t have a dead Christ hanging there on a crucifix; we have a live Jesus living in our hearts!

11 Matthew 12:40; 1 Peter 3:19, 4:6; Ephesians 4:9.
12 1 Corinthians 15:55.

John 20:1-9
The Empty Tomb
20 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”

3 Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. 4 So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. 5 And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. 9 For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

Luke 24:13-35

The Walk to Emmaus
13 Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, 14 and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, 16 but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 17 And he said to them, “What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?”

They stood still, looking sad. 18 Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?”

19 He asked them, “What things?” They replied, “The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20 and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death and crucified him. 21 But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things took place. 22 Moreover, some women of our group astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning, 23 and when they did not find his body there, they came back and told us that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive. 24 Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but they did not see him.”

25 Then he said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! 26 Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?” 27 Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures.

Matthew 28:8-15

8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell His disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” He said. They came to Him, clasped His feet and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

The Guards’ Report
11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

The "defects" of Jesus (part 1)

Hi everyone!wave

I still remember I once told you that humans are not anyone is perfect, but Jesus! However, recently I have discovered some things that can be said is quite interesting to know: there is a person who has studied the Bible in a very thorough and he raised a number of things that he declared that Jesus had ... some of weaknesses.
I would like to tell you about the interesting things, which I've read. And this blog is to talk about one of the weaknesses of Jesus.

"JESUS WEAK MEMORY"
Near the death, Jesus had the last conversation with the two thieves, who was hanging on the cross next to Him. One of them had uttered these words with Jesus: "Jesus, when you come into your kingdom you, remember me." And Jesus said to him: "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in Heaven" (Luke 23, 42-43).

Jesus did not examine his background to remind how much was the extent of his wickedness. Also Jesus did not consider serious offenses, or misdemeanors of him to just tolerated or temporary punishment somehow that appropriate for him. The thief has appealed His mind, then He was just "remembering" something that he was seeing him in front of His Face, and all unrighteousness before of the thief, Jesus had forgotten!!! The "forgetting" of Jesus reached level: immediately that day, He promised kingdom of heaven right for him (the thief)!
How funny that the Saints said: "This guy, he was a lifelong thief, and until his death, he also stole the Kingdom of Heaven, too!!!"

In the Gospel we see more evidence of a Jesus, Who had such bad memory. And so, through the fable "The merciful father", the event is clear. Luke says that the youngest of two children of the father had taken away the part of its heritage, to run away from home to live a life of dissipated, forgot his father, forgot his brother. But when money runs out, meet in hunger, he returned home to confess sins and did beg to the father gave him forgiveness ...

The father (the image of Jesus), not to mention the old sins, but only looked forward, waiting for the prodigal son to return home. As soon as he saw the boy from afar, he was overjoyed and he ran to catch the child, whom he thought is lost, but now has returned. The father was not bigotry to heckle old sins, but he had ordered servant: "Let get nice clothes, good shoes, precious ring for him, let do calf fat meat to feast, because my son is dead but now it's alive."

Luke. 15, 20-23
He was in the distance, the father saw his son. He had compassion, and ran and embraced his neck and kissed him. Then the son said," Father, I actually obtained crime against God and Father, I do not worthy to be called your son ...." But the father said to the servants, saying, " Bring quickly the best robe it on him, put a ring on his hand, and shoes at his feet, and then go catch the goat was slaughtered fattening we opened celebrations! ...".

We can see in these cases that the memory of Jesus seems to not work anymore!!!!!confused grin wave

Where is the love?

An ISIS member stopped the car of a christian couple, and asked them if they are Muslim or not?

The Christian man: I'm Muslim.

ISIS member: If you are a Muslim then recite a verse from Quran.
Christian man recited a verse from the Bible

ISIS member: Yeah! that was right, you are allowed to go.

"What a risk you took! Why did u tell him that we are Muslims? if he knew you are telling a lie he would have killed both of us" asked the wife when they got further.

"Do not worry! if they knew the Quran they would not kill innocents" Answered the Husband.

ISIS is not Islam, Terrorism has no religion. This is plain terrorism.

When we start to suffer from superiority, because of our nationality, colour of our skin, the religion we follow or any other invalid reason, our minds, hearts and eyes are totally shut for humility, equality, compassion and love.

If we take an eye for an eye the whole world will be blind. If the Muslims and Christians start killing each other, just looking at this chart what will be left of.

The "defects" of Jesus (part 2)

Hi everyone!wave

Do you agree with me Jesus was the most weird character in the history of the world ever? If He's a normal person like all people, then I would not loving Him as I've done. And more again... that's...

Jesus didn't know how to do the math
In the parable of "The lost sheep" ( Matthew 18, 12-14; Luke 15, 4-7), we see the behavior of Jesus showed He did not know how to calculate. One who has 100 sheep in an open area, and then He lost one sheep. Can not understand how He calculated that 1 lost sheep that was worth more than 99 (?), because He has left 99 sheep to go looking for the lost one! 1 is bigger, 1 is be worth more than 99? Not true! It seems that Jesus didn't know how to do the math!confused grin wave

The "defects" of Jesus (part 3)

Hi everyonewave

(3) Jesus was not very good of inference
Jesus not just didn't know consideration calculated on the amount (part 2), but sometimes His words go against the conventional wisdom of man. For example:

In The Parable of the Great Banquet, He said also to the man who had invited Him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just." (Luke 14,12-14)

---> Oh! In reality, have we ever done like that? (!)

In The parable of the Lost Coin (Luke 15, 8-10), a woman has 10 coins, but one night, she had lost one, "She light a lamp, sweep the house, trying to to look for it. ..."

---> Again! In reality, have we ever done like that? (!). And more, after it (the lost coin) was found, then she was not care the night hours rest of neighbors, friends, but she had invited them to come cheer with her!!! Was she crazy?!
But Jesus said:
"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." (Luke 15,8)

So, what do you think?teddybear hug wave
