NOT ALL QUOTATION IS CORRECT...

I cut from a comment of one blog which attract me to see through...

"The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his county for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does, the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war." - Sydney J. Harris –

Hhmm… I am trying to digest what Sydney J. Harris said…. Then I opened Wikipedia and I found that Sidney J Harris is an American Journalist who became Nixon political opponent.

Nationalism is a belief, creed or political ideology that involves an individual identifying with, or becoming attached to, one's nation. Nationalism involves national identity, by contrast with the related construct of patriotism, which involves the social conditioning and personal behaviors that support a state's decisions and actions (Wikipedia)

Patriotism is, generally speaking, cultural attachment to one's homeland or devotion to one's country, although interpretations of the term vary with context, geography and political ideology. It is a set of concepts closely related to those of nationalism (Wikipedia)

From what I understood, Nationalism is a spirit to defense the whole nation, devoted and loyalty to one COUNTRY (national identity). It is general, big scale and how Sindey J Harris said that nationalism lead the feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war? Arrogant toward who and war against who?

While Patriotism is a spirit to support and defense to one COUNTY. It is smaller in smaller scale and Sydney said the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility. Yes Responsible toward its county/group only if their deed is right otherwise patriotism would put its county in danger.

From above, I see that patriotism is IN nationalism. Counties are IN country. But how if patriotism appear in one county to against his country ? and yes, if the patriotism right against the country, he would appear as a patriot (hero) but if the patriotism wrong against the country, he would appear as the opponent that could end up in jail.

Nationalism is a defense action of a nation toward foreign attack for example insulting the country and country leader. Persistent to attack and to defense would finally create a war. The result is only two, either nationalism succeeded to kick the attacker *ss or the country lose its dignity. And arrogance is needed in effort of defense to let the attacker know who they are dealing with. When there is no attack, the nationalism would live in peace in their country humbly.

A quotation like what Sydney J Harris said is just an opinion of one man. We should be re-evaluating whether it is correct or not, fit in the situation or not while a proverb is quotation that exist for centuries for instance “If you want to live in peace, you should follow/obey your leader, your bible (rules) and your society” and this proverb has been proven through generation.

Any other opinion about these two terms are most welcome…. Above is just my personal opinion.

Anarchy ...

“Give a man a gun and he’ll rob a bank. Give a man a bank and he’ll rob the world.” — Unknown

Give people just a little bit of knowledge and courage and they will track down those greedy-a** bankers and hold them accountable.

All we need is just a little courageous anarchy. The problem, the crux, the fly in the ointment: most people are not courageous enough, and most people don’t want to learn anything that attacks their all-too-precious worldview.

Yes, the very worldview that is keeping people indebted to an immoral, unhealthy, unsustainable, unjust system of human governance, is precisely the worldview that the majority of people are clinging to. Indeed, most people, even though they would probably say otherwise, would rather be kissed with a lie than slapped with the truth.

Memorial Day, USA

Being a former US Marine, I would like to thank all of the veterans for serving their respective countries! Monday, May 25, is Memorial Day in the US. It is a time of remembrance for all military men and women who served their countries faithfully and many who paid the ultimate price with their lives!

God bless all of you!

Why I Like Arab Muslim Culture and Traditions

I don't know much about Arab Muslims but I have tremendous respect for some of the things that I have come to know and understand about them.

Religion, they drop everything to pray 5x a day. Business close, people leave their shop open for a prayer.

Family, is the most important values to them, very close family ties, not just immediate family but also extended family. They never leave a family member behind.

Community, they have strong attachment to their community and plays active role in helping others. Charity is a very important part of Islam and most will contribute to help others out.

Honor and Respect are the most important values for them, something that visitors need to be very careful about. They will kill or die for their honor.

They have very rigid set of rules, values and culture but it keep their people in line.

They live in a community wherein men are MEN, women follow and serve the men after a long hard day from work, less crimes as drugs and alcohol are prohibited, less rape, no homeless or abandoned children or elders, less drunk, less rebellious kids, no homosexual can flaunt and demand "equality", pre-marital sex is forbidden so no abortions to worry about when it comes to our young girls.

Many would say that they are uncivilized and living a backward life but I feel safe living here. I can walk alone in the middle of the night not feeling afraid that someone would rob or rape me. I don't have to worry over my son when he's not within my eye sight as kids here grow up away from most of the bad influences like drugs and alcohol.

They don't believe in modernity and equality but I'm inclined to agree with them...look at the world, it's changing..badly... it has gone madsigh sigh

Hurricane Katrina and The City

An very interesting documentary about the problems of a category 5 hurricane and the infrastructure designed to keep the water out...the levies were only built with a category 3 in mind...another problem was the destruction of wet lands due to the infrastructure...taking away a natural phenomenon of absorbing water when storms of this nature hit land...

Should the city New Orleans be rebuilt or become vacant?...

What men say they want??? vs. What they really mea

I have only been on this site for 3-4 weeks and I find it rather amusing when I read a man’s profile in regards to what they “say” they want or are looking for in a woman. Some men say they want a woman who is intelligent, yet, when you start a conversation and he feels intimidated by the woman’s level of intellect it is as if he expects the woman to dumb down her intelligence to suit his feelings of inadequacy. Hint for the men…do not just focus on looks, I think for the most part…people no longer think stupid is sexy…any more so than, a good looking woman lacks intellectual substance. Nor should you kid yourself or lie as to your level of education. If a woman lists her level of education…irrespective of the discipline…then be prepared to have an intelligible conversation. It is okay if you do not understand something…say so, learn and move on… don’t become defensive then try to transpose your feelings of inadequacy onto someone else by making the situation into a personal attack…LEARN!!! This is not a competition of the intellect…it is a site to meet new people, and perhaps develop a relationship whatever that may be to whomever. Allow me to make myself very clear…I am not saying that someone who has formal education is more intelligent than someone who does not…it depends on the intellect of the individual as I do not discount other factors such as Life experience, training whether vocational, trade etc…and lets not discount the notion “common sense make before book”. I am a firm believer of this principle. You have many out there who have degrees whether an Associate’s degree, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate and some are as dumb as a door knob. If you lack general wisdom, discernment and common sense…well…I think we get the picture. I do not profess to know everything…however, I will take whatever step is necessary to learn…so therefore, if I do not know something, I will use whatever means whether a dictionary, library, internet, research, a book etc… to learn…I love learning it is an intrinsic part of who I am as a person…I am curious… There is nothing sexier than a man who has a propensity to learn and share what he has learned with others from a humanistic and humble standpoint absent testosterone and ego. This is not about the battle of the sexes…this is about humanity…connecting.conversing handshake professor
