If childern learn by example of course this is true, so why not keep the guns and take all the songs, and tv shows that promote the killing and drugs and gangs and the disrespecting of parents off the air then, that would do much more than taking the gun away from good people that are law abiding folks, you really do not see the point at all do you, or is it you just refuse to open your mind to something else, agian if you wish for us to except other cultures then except ours as well....

how safe are we if every one holding gus and if no one holds gun aslo how safe our community will be

I believe I mentioned somewhere that I was raised in a home where my parents didn't believe in hitting but we KNEW they had the right to.

As for the parenting classes, don't need them. One is out on his own and the other can't wait to get out of his mothers house away from his step father

First, to adress the initial original post. I think they should keep a wary eye, more so than they do, but where do we draw the line? If we start talking psychological evaluations for every student we are sticking our toes in to orwellian territory. We must tread VERY carefully when we start talking on this fringe.
Now, for the rest of the thread. I did in fact take the time to read through the entire thread, though, judging from some responses, many did NOT read the entire thread and brought up issues that were dealt with in other posts. Please folks, when discussing important issues in a forum, READ ENTIRE THREADS, not just the original post and skip to the end for your own, READ EVERYTHING.
On to gun control/gun laws/gun bans etc.
To everyone outside the U.S. The right to own guns in this country is more than just the right to own a gun, WE are the ulitmate defenders of our liberty. Who are we to trust to preserve our freedoms from tyrany...our government? ......Please, these are the people who we were charged with defending our liberty from. THOSE are the people the second amendment was written to protect us from, go read the wording of the amendment:
A well regulated milita, being nessesary for the security of a free state, the right of the people ot keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. ~amendment 2, u.s. constitution.
And a few wordds from one of our founders:

More gun laws WILL NOT WORK Period. Criminals already break laws, why would more laws make them obey laws? How is that even remotely logical. Seriously? How does that make any sense to you at all? While we're at it why don't we make robbing banks illegal to stop bank robbing.

We have always had guns in this country, to round them up would be IMPOSSIBLE, so they will always be available no matter how many of them you restrict. the only thing restrictions acomplish is to take guns from honest people. To systematicly emilinate or evebn reduce the number of guns in this country is again, an impossibility, YOU CANNOT ACOMPLISH THIS, with laws, round ups or any other means.

Automatic weapons (also called "machine guns") are already illegal in the U.S.

"Assault weapon" is a buzz word. Most "assault weapons" are nothing more then semi- (not fully) automatic versions of normal caliber weapons and are no more powerfull than most hunting weapons.

Knife deaths in schools in this country out number gun deaths almost 80 to 1.

Car deaths among students in the U.S. out number gun deaths by almost 1000 to 1.

The federal government in the U.S. has no constitutional authority to regulate guns

Shortly after the gun round up in australia, crime skyrocketed, leaving the government scratching it's head as to why....

And then theres this:
A knife attack every 4 minutes; 130,000 per year but ministers still insist crime rates are falling
"More than 350 people are the victim of knife assaults every day in England and Wales, the latest crime figures have revealed....."

And you're saying i dont get the point ??? I think i do, i think my eyes are wide open but at which point are you willing to draw the line as to who can and who cant own a gun in your country ? I havent professed to be an expert here; its common sense, surely ?
