this is the most preposterous thing I ever heard!! psyche tests for students??? How about postal workers? factory workers? unemployed people? restaurant workers? They all have been involved in in mass murders! And let's not forget politicians that are responsible for thousands of murders on foreign soil!!doh

rocketqueen: its not necessarily bad parening that does this to children......

there have been mass shootings done by kids from straight up middle class families.........

it is a psychological disorder that makes kids do this, and unfortunately it comes from all socio economic backgrounds and parenting styles......
so because your upper class or middle class that means your a good parent, ahhh the best parents I have ever seen were dirt poor , if you ask me I think the rich are the worst parents...they are alot of times non-parents, they just pay someone to take care of the kids...professor

Sorry, but that is one of the most ignorant statement I have ever read on this site. If parents were more involved with their kids, the kids would tend to stay on the straight and narrow.

The book by Ann Rule, Stranger Beside Me.
She researched the life of Ted Bundy. He had loving parents.

Though it is true that parents who are there are more likely to have 'good' children. It isn't always the case.

Think I'll stay out of this one. No sense in trying to explain something to people who refuse to see someone elses point of view.

This is why I used the word "tend" and not "always" or "never".

No need to be sorry... your point is very relevant.

There are those bad seeds, but I would thin in almost all cases it is bad parenting.

This is one of the reasons I didn't spend more than a few years teaching.... to many affluent parents thought is was my job to raise their kids. I knew it was time to change profession when I was thinking about creating a class of felons.

the poster above me said mass shootings/murederers were due to bad parenting........
what i was saying is that its not necessarily parenting skills that have anything to do with psychiatric disorders......itcan be a combination of factors........

i think we all have seen some kids come from atrocious conditions to triumph in life, and vice versawine

romeo22: Do you think before institutions admit student in a school or any institutions, psychologist MUST crosscheck their prospective students psychological health?..can can authorities stop mass shooting?..should we sit down and loose our loved ones, families, our intellectuals?

Psychology is an imperfect field- you can never really know what is in a person's mind, and I don't think we want to become 'thought' police.

So, we will probably always have those with mental illneses of one kind or another. And a person who is healthy one day, may not be the next.

So, we have to be able to defend ourselves and loved ones when someone does snap. So I think we should arm certain people in the institution. That's how it was handled in the past basically. Don't tell the Klebolds and Dylans of the school who has the automatic pistols, but have some competent people who are trained and able to respond quickly and take away the threat.

Life is imperfect and always will be.
