jac379: Again, I agree that there are numerous inequalities for Muslim women, but there is also only a very thin veneer of equality for western women. The thing that bugs me, is the perception that ALL Muslim men must be a certain way simply because they are Muslim and vice versa with Western men. We are fuelled in the media with a "them wrong, us right mentality". Unless we look beyond that, none of us can move on
That may be so, but only he can decide whether this site is right for him. Only a woman can decide if that is right for her.
The chances of any of us finding who we seek are pretty slim! Maybe this site has more than one function. We can learn the best of each other's cultures and take them with us into future relationships. We can gain understanding and empathy of people as individuals, rather than view with blanket prejudice.

I hope that none of us are entirely wasting our time on here. I have learned a lot. Maybe this is a good site for ahman khan, but like all of us he shouldn't get too hung up on finding love and take it for what it is.

The fact that he is on this site, rather than a Muslim site, suggests he is prepared to look beyond his own culture and perceptions.

So should we all.

Jac xxx

I agree! Yes this is a dating site, but the forums are for expressing our varying opinions on many different subjects. It is an opportunity to grow and learn but I have noticed some people find it difficult to state their opinions without being rude or obnoxious. It is so unnecessary. Trying to railroad someone to look at something from your perspective doesn't work... Debating in a respectful way does.

In response to: the idea grown by reviewing the profiles of girls i hv seen so far is something like -- they want handsome guys, they want loving and caring person and they want the guys to love them 4 what they r. but whats wrong with a guy who is trustworthy, honest, educated, loves kids, has faith on God but not handsome?? why the girls skip just seeing the photo? why they dont want to love a guy 4 what he is?????

Personally, I believe in fate, or destiny: Be thankful that those silly girls are passing you by.. The right one won't care about the superficial stuff, and will see everything good you have on offer.
We all have someone chosen for us. Some of us are in the wrong place for too long, distracted by things that aren't that important...

Yeah, that's true but letting everybody expose their true colors is constructive too. It all works together for good.

......continuation

in fact, both Bible and Torah mention about prophet Muhammad. if u really follow the teachings of Jesus, look what jessus said in John 16 that
12“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will bring glory to me.
now the question is -- who is this man? that will come after him and will glorify him, will talk about him. u know, he is Prophet Muhammad(PBUH). because Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came after Jesus and we have learnt about Jesus from him. again come to the bible, the song of Solomon, chapter -5,10-16. it describes a man. the Jews claims that he is Solomon. while the christians claim that He is Jesus. verse 16 says that

16His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my lover, this my friend,O daughters of Jerusalem.

Now the word "altogether lovely" in hebrew is ????
check in the hebrew bible. that is bible says -- he is ????
but this word pronounces in hebrew as "Muhammad". that is, bible is saying -- he is Muhammad. people has no rights to translate the name of people like the bible translater did to hide the christians from the truth. check it urself. if u or anyone can prove me wrong. but if u translate this word by the most popular translating site
then u will find "Muhammad".

i said b4, i dont want to hurt anyone. but this is what we consider as truth. and Jesus said seek the truth and truth will set u free. so if any christian girl have this faith that i wrote here, only then we can marry her. and same for Jews girls. handshake

Oh boy....I think you will have people disagree on this. I can't really commment as I don't know the Bible inside and out. I was raised Christian but I'm not overly religious.

I only hope people respect your view as it comes down to how we were raised. It just would be nice if people are tolerant of each other no matter what religion.

I actually wrote in my profile that looks are a secondary concern. I find intelligence and character much more important than appearances. Besides, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

You know, for every woman who wants a handsome man, there is a man who wants a gorgeous woman. In my experience, it is more often the men who claim to be "visual creatures"... which is nothing but a polite way to say: I want a beautiful woman, not an average one.

and about believing my words- its upto u. i gave all the references. and i know no one can prove me wrong. one imortant point to b noted, i m in this site not to prove that the current christianity or judaism are false religions or to preach islam or convert the christians to islam. i was looking for friends from different cultures and religions. i m already successful in it. but if anyone wants to know my culture or religion he/she is most welcome. and if anyone wants to debate, i would say i m not for debate here. i hope and believe i was polite and tolerant so far and will b, although some people were not respectful, rather tried to insult by saying dog, ugly, scary and others.

thumbs up

Scubadiva: Correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that muslims can marry christians and jews. The interpretations as to non believers varies among muslims. I've heard different viewpoints on "unbelievers."

yes there r different interpretations, and this is because- a little learning is a dangerous thing. but if u go to the authentic scholars of islam, mainly from india or Saudi Arabia u would get the right interpretations. and about marrying the christians/jews-i think i have already given the answer. handshake

Curiously wondering why you have posted on this mainly western site?
Sort of into the lions den don't you think?

On a personal level I don't find you unattractive, if you mow the beard away for western eyes and can see the bone structure beyond turban and beard wink.

You are obviously well educated and bright, with your own opinions and convinced of your faith, which every person should have the right to practice... as long as it doesn't infringe on all the other 'infidels' beliefs and we become less than human in your eyes... but why are you here of all places?

So...I'm assuming, you haven't been happy with your mothers' choices?

In my opinion the replies of OP have been comprehensive respectful and historically correct. It's a shame some posters don't have the same knowledge and manners.

well, it's not always easy for a western woman.. to find Islam a happy place, I think you know for what reasons.

Although this doesn't mean that I don't wish him well as a human being.
