Jimmy Carter and Desmond Tutu are urging the Israeli military to release a Palestinian activist who is still imprisoned even though he has already served his prison sentence.

Abdallah Abu Rahmah, 39, was convicted of incitement for organizing weekly demonstrations in the West Bank village of Bil'in against what Israel calls its security barrier and Palestinians call an apartheid separation wall. Abu Rahmah was scheduled to be released on November 25, but an Israeli military court extended his sentence. Carter and Tutu, who are part of a group of world leaders called the Elders, released a statement this week condemning Abu Rahmah's continued imprisonment.

It took quite a wile to read the posts as I have been spending time elsewhere, getting to know Conrad. I agree with him 100%. And.................................Jimmy Carter is a fine, fine man, but don't think I would reference him in matter such as these!!!!!!!!!!rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

SilverBirch: Conrad, If you don't have anything nice to say then say nothing at all.

I am just posting more articles from around the "international community" to bolster my position that "the world wants Peace", for Israel, the Palestine s and the region. Just because you are such a hard=liner on all this (and yes your position DOES mirror Netanyahu ) does not mean it is fair and JUST. Not to be repetitive, but I must re-state the critical points of dis-agreement which are

The settlements are illegal in the eyes of the international community. *Note* Conrad, IT DOES EXIST There are people out there that you don't actually SEE.

And NO, you can't just shake your head and hope they will go away.

Secondly, the "apartheid regime" has got to end. It IS COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT to contain 4 million people to military OCCUPATION indefinitely.

And MOST IMPORTANTLY

THERE IS NO WAR....ISRAEL HAS WON THE MILITARY CONTEST 40 PLUS YEARS AGO Today is only "Occupation" and "Resistance".

There is no WAR.

Hope this helps Conrad.

So that is why you are are against the Abbas and Netanhyu peace talks?
LOL....come on SB.....if you are going to get peace, someone has to talk for the two sides. When they do, you toss historical inflaming documentations on the net to kill the talks.

You have done it your entire time here at CS.

You don't want peace, or else you whould have supported the Abbas Netanhyu talks. Now you are trying to back pedal....and say....Isreal is still the occupier and hence the peace talks failed. But not taking responsiblity for inflaming the issues with you historic posting of inflaming documents.

The next west bank Palestine boy that gets kills....stand up here at CS and say....I helped to that. By prolonging the conflict. The next time some isreali civilian get mowed down in a attack....Come here....and I say....I helped to do that.....by condemning the peace talks of Abbas and Netanhyu.

The Palestinians do not want to stop their intent of driving the Jewish people into the sea.

They want to squeeze Israel into a smaller and smaller land mass, with no intention of peace. They see relinquishing land as a sign of Israel's weakness, and of course the less land Israel has the easier they think it will be to win a war against Israel.

As an indication look at the area of Gaza, given back and its Jewish residents FORCIBLY EVICTED FROM THEIR HOMES, BUSINESSES, in the hope of peace with immediate and DAILY INDISCRIMITATE ROCKET ATTACKS FROM GAZA INTO ISRAEL every day since then, in August 2005.

What is more the compassionate Israelis even treat those Hammas terrorists in their hospials when they are injured by either their own bombs or other terrorists.

These Hammas terrorists are wild, corrupt and fight amongst themselves. They have no compassion and comandeer medical aid sent to the region and corruptly charge over the going rate for people who need treatment.

As for the rest of the country, the Israeli Arabs do not want peace as was shown by the market research poll posted above in Conrad's post - they don't recognise Israel and there are daily terrorist attacks inside Israel - I am not just talking about the daily rockets from Gaza into Israel. There are people - women, children, elderly (not just the military) being injured and killed on a daily basis, and yet you think the Arabs want peace.

Israel - don't be hoodwinked into thieir trap.

Conrad73: Majority of PA Arabs See Two States as 'Temporary Solution’

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

A majority of Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza favor two states only as a step towards an Arab state of Palestine, by the use of violence, if necessary, according to a new poll by the non- profit The Israel Project.

The results of the survey were released on Friday, hours before Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat said that if Israel agrees to recognizing the Palestinian Authority as a new Arab country based on Israel’s size being shrunk to the indefensible 1949 Armistice Line borders, the PA then would relinquish all claims to “historic Palestine,” which he said includes all of Israel from the Dead Sea to the Mediterranean Seas.

The Israel Project poll of PA Arabs shows that 60 percent favor direct negotiations with Israel for “two states” of the Palestinian Authority and Israel, but it also reveals that two-thirds agree that “over time, Palestinian must work to get back all the land for a Palestinian state.”

Only 23 percent of the respondent agreed that “Israel has a permanent right to exist as a homeland for the Jewish people.”

The option of armed violence still is a high priority for a majority of PA Arabs, 58 percent preferring “armed struggle” over “engagement with Israel.” A majority of Arabs in both Gaza and Judea and Samaria favor violence, with a higher percentage in Gaza.

On the other hand, Arab opinion was somewhat more conciliatory when respondents were given the option that an agreement with Israel would be based on 1949-1967 Armistice lines, once referred to former Israel Ambassador to the United Nations Abba Eban as “Auschwitz borders.”

Most of the PA Arab would like to see an end to the naming of public places after terrorists, but only a tiny minority of 12 percent agree that official maps, documents and school textbooks should show the name ”Israel.”

As in previous polls, the popularity of Hamas has declined, even in Gaza, where the rival Fatah party would easily win if elections were held today.

In contrast to another recent poll that showed PA Arabs as having a favorable view of Iran, most of the respondents in the Israel Project poll had negative opinions on Iran and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Yes there is a Hidden Agenda, and PA has it!
