bodleing: Haha, I like to see them make that work.
well my friend they must have found a way because since december the 1st 2010 so far 2000 people in the province of malaga have had their licences taken away and can not get them back untill the have passed either a advanced driving test or are clean from drugs. when they get them back there will be points on the license and if caught again drinking and driving or driving with drugs in their system it will be another prison sentence and the fine will be 30,000 euros, and that is a long prison sentence to pay that off.

First I've heard of it. I have a very good friend living in Mijas, he smokes quite a lot but has never mentioned it to me.
Anyway, give this a couple more years and I suspect your roads will be quite empty.
I truly believe that if USA troops were brought home from Germany and South Korea where they no longer belong; ((USA can protect South Korea by Ocean and fighter jets)) that USA troops could be re-employed at the borders of Mexico and Canada...
The drug cartels are a big problem with drugs and violence. The real problem isn't drugs per say, it is the killings.
In USA prohibition (1920) it did not stop people from moonshine and bathtub Gin. (The Gangsters from Chicago took over the distribution of alcohol).
It is now the same with Marijuana. People grow in backyards and basements highly lighted with florescent lamps.
There is no un-costly way to prevent it, so let them have it.

What about the concept..that drug use is a escape from society? You have a problem and and need a immediate escape. Pull out the reefer, the needle, the pill.....
We all have problems. Some chose to face them with clear eyes and straight thinking vs blurred vision and addled thinking.

Even more reasons for people to do less unnecessary car journeys

What is so wrong with that?
you really are mean when when you get going arent you.....
Are you another who has a problem with educated women
I do agree that the government should legalize marijuana, as it is non-addictive and no worse than drinking booze.
But there is where I draw the line. They should never legalize the hard core drugs (e.g. heroin, cocaine, lsd, mescaline, etc.)
And I have no sympathy for the problems of anyone who is addicted to the hard core drugs. If they are caught, they need to be jailed and severely fined.

I think Spain needs to take a hard look at what stiff prison sentences for drug use has done to the prison system in the US. Our prison population has exploded which if it continues on the present course the day could come when 50% of the population will be in prison being guarded by the other 50%.

Tom, this holier than thou attitude doesn't become you.
Some people, (many people in fact) used all kind of substances to get through their lives. If you are one of those who can deal with life without, fair play to you, but we all have our own ways of dealing with this journey. Live and let live eh?
stash it now mr nasty - i shant reply to you further...... this is your usual method, you cant attack my theories so you go for the personal stuff - transparent beyond belief.......

understand what you are saying but here in spain the tax office has the legal right to take money from your bank account or to confiscate your property and sell it to pay your fine. so they can not only take money from your bank but sell your house, car etc and only the spanish tax office has that legal right so one way or another they will get the money to pay the fine.

That's what happens when you're only 2 dimensional... bully code... if you're not with me you're against me... no greys or any of those other charming colors either.

From what I understand, it's brain chemistry... some have it, some don't... and some more than others... but it's been there since someone got high by accident around the campfire.

Its always the usual suspects too - teres such a lot to learn about personality types on these forums - a never ending source of enjoyment/learning for me curiously enough
