People who want to make abortions illegal, like prior to Roe V Wade, forget how many women died at the hands of quack doctors or people who had no medical training what-so-ever doing abortions in their bathroom or in hotel rooms. They also seem to think that making abortions illegal will stop abortions or reduce their number. Neither of these beliefs are true. All it will do is drive the practice underground and more women will die and have serious medical complications.
I almost lost my older sister when she tried to abort her 6th pregnancy by herself with a knitting needle. She punctured her uterus and nearly bled to death. What would have become of her other 5 children if she died?

These politicians are proving they aren't qualified to even put together a budget, and some people want to give them the power to decide such a personal issue?

But, this is what you get when you bring the church into government.

The US is a secular nation, no matter what you want to believe, and any attempt to PUSH your particular brand of faith onto others is an act of fanaticism.

If you don't like living in a secular nation, move to Iran.

Sparky55: It seems rather odd that when the FY-11 budget was supposed to have been signed, that Democrats were in charge of both the House and the Senate and they couldn't agree/push through a budget as the budget should have been enacted long before the Reps took control of the House. Yet, now we're pointing fingers at the Republicans.

The financial situation we find ourselves in is abysmal and now we're fighting over peanuts when we should in fact be cutting a lot more. (This the fault of both parties).

I think we should fire every one of those dudes at the first possible opportunity.

Thanks John...

Well, it looks like the congress has been able to avert this latest crisis. Perhaps now they'll get off their collective butts and work on the FY12 budget and come up with something that's both timely and results in a balanced budget.

Excellent example of why we are where we are today. Political grandstanding and failure to take responsibility. Lets blame the Republicans and the rich or lets blame the democrats and their social programs.

Would should make a concentrated effort to remove each and everyone of them from office.

Of course they do. No sense of responsibility whatsoever. The lot of them need to go. God help me if I ran my personal finances in the same manner the government does.

This isn't anything new anyway... is it? We had this same thing with Bush & Clinton... only they didn't handle it the way Obama did.
Same outcome, but more drama this time...

I'm open to being "re-educated", but it's my understanding federal funds can't be used for abortions. The money Republicans tried to "tie up" were general daily operations. (no pun intended)
