Very good question Scanz. Not sure. But I understand why they eat, just can't believe they can eat so much and let it go on for so long, but then am trying to lose 10 kgs and having such difficulty that I am also inspired by their efforts! Helps when you have a personal trainer though.

I paid for one a couple of years ago and it helped heaps, but they are so expensive.

there can many reasons why people gain excessive weight, usually gained over years.

Shows like Biggest Loser are great for encouraging people that the weight can be lost but very unrealistic in how quick it will come off.

I have lost over 45kgs, it has taken me over 5 years because for my bodys sake and my mental state I had to have a break from the regime for a while.

To lose a large amount of weight there has to be a lot of self knowledge learned, and a lot of new coping and life skills taken as habits as well.

Peer pressure and support can do wonders in this, and this is where sites like calorieking.com.au can help immensely.
They provide heaps of information about how to lose weight, and heaps of info about why people can tend to self sabotage. Also there you find a community of people that have the same goals and same trials as you go through.

and the same peer pressure can drag you back into bad habits.

Losing weight has taught me a hell of a lot about myself, I have learned my strengths and my weaknesses. Its a long road but a very rewarding one.

And my biggest advice for anyone that wants to lose weight is

You have to want it for you, it has to be a selfish act. If you want to lose to please someone else it leaves you vulnerable to their likes and dislikes. Learn to love yourself for who you are, and for what you want to be. hug

I dont know about being inspired per say ... and being upset is sure not the answer ...

I have put on over 20kg in 19 months just working as a bus driver ... I am not a big eater and I am certainly not a over eater and or glutton .... its more the ready made junk I eat whilst away from home that has allowed me to beef it up ...

near a week away from work this week has seen me lose near 2kgs ..

weight loss is about lifestyle not diet .... you can eat anything if you have the right lifestyle ...

More power to these shows or anything else that can help another person out of a rutt and get them living a healthier lifestyle ...

Now anyone seen my Staple GuN .... lol .... doh

Very bad for you!

I have always said that you only have so many hart beats per body? When you see athletes dying on marathon runs you start to think of why?

I can change from 2 to 10 kg per week! It has always been that way for me, I am one of those people that don’t get hungry? But I do suffer from dizzy spells if I forget to eat for three or four days at a time?

dunno

That’s a wonderful achievement. Many people do dieting wrong, they are under the illusion it can be done overnight. In turn crash diets do the exact opposite, they put weight on, irregular eating is the worst possible thing you can do to your body. The best thing to do is have 3 meals a day with moderate exercise.
