tomcatwarne: Oh having rich parents can be an advantage, but many people have made it without this leg up, and by the way the heuristic view is not always the right one.

I know, i'm one of them. One of the first things I said on the thread was that the aspirational working class are often my favourite people, and I do dislike those whom have worked half as hard as me to reach the same place.

But you know, I didn't think you were wrong per se. To some inverse snobbery is just envy.

leigh2154: Hi Tom!!

Inverse snobbery.....Thinking you are better than others because you're working class, have a regional accent, don't use big words, read tabloids, and are "in the know" about crime because you live in a rough area....

confused

I understood it to be ...

someone who turns their back on "the values they learned" from lets say a middle class background to embrace the values of a class that is considered lower by their (original) peers. That can include table manners, manners of speech, behaviour etc which they then flaunt/make a show of ... a bit like this tongue

My guy lost both his parents by the time he was 16. He worked nights in a bakery to get through finishing school.

He overcame all the odds to become a fine tradesman and worked all over the country when he was younger. Now, he started his own small waste collection business and its doing great. No, its not glamorous, but its lucrative and RECESSION PROOF!

I am so proud of him that he overcame a difficult upbringing, some nasty relationships and still managed to make a success of things and run his own business.

TrueBlue1986: Then we must find a political alternative that is neither the Liberal Capitalism of the Right or the Social Democracy of the Left.

The will towards Protectionism - and against Globalism - is emerging from the patriotic Right, the working classes and now even the middle class. Everyday people are starting to realise just how crucial these times are, we have to forget the class conflict of rich and poor, the survival of the nation is at stake.

The concept of globalisation is not so much wrong as a concept but in the way it's implemented!!

As long a s we're talking politics and nations you are simply changing the title of the play and may be the venue!! Same play though!!! Same ending!!

Think bigger!! Only thing that will save the people is not just to forget the class conflict but more importantly the racial conflict worldwide!! Equal human rights for all humans on every inch of the globe!! That would be a good start and a good place to start re-building our societies ...

We can't even organise our own nation successfully, to believe we should administrate the entire World is insane in my opinion.

But this is what has changed between your generation and mine, your generation inherited lots of wealth from our ancestors and so, out of pity for the less well off across the World, developed altruistic attitudes. My generation inherits the mess that this has created. So we have to develop survivor politics simply because in the future it will be Western children dying of malnutrition and not just the children in Africa. We have to put our own people first.

TrueBlue your blinkered views which you think avant-guarde use to make me angry ... now they just make me smile!! hug

My generation comes from immigrant parents who lived in poverty and continued to live in poverty for a good 10/12 years after emmigrating in search of a better life. Spain was a third world country untill not so long ago!! My generation from the south of Spain had no wealth to inherit from anyone!! Hang on!! I'm lying!! Oh!! Yeah!! We could inherit little houses with no bathrooms, running water or electricity!!! Oh!! And let's not forget a few acres of dried up straw (lack of water in the south-east) to feed our families with!!

The children of your generation will only die of malnutrition because they choose to eat at McDonalds instead of turning their back gardens into self supporting vegetable gardens!!!! Because they are too busy chasing after the new flat screen TV and all the gadgets they think they must have!! Because they prefer a pair of new trainers or new double glazing for their windows instead of nutricious food!! IMO of course!!

I keep reminding you that my generation was only just born at the beginning of the 60's therefore not old enough to make an impact on the economy!!! The generations old enough to have an impact on your economy in your country were to have been at least 20/30 by the 60's ... that would make them about 70/80 years old now!!! This last paragraph relates to older posts of yours where you were blaming the collapse of the current economy on the doings of older generations starting in about 1960!!

Hello Bowave

Remember the old saying in the U.K. "Where there's muck there's brass"
and to all those unfamiliar with this expression brass means money.

Way to go Davocheering

It is 4,840 square yards or 43,560 square fee

There is actually a difference between "international acre" and "US survey acre" if you want to translate it into "square meters", since there is a slight difference between the definition of a US yard and an international yard! Here is the exact numbers:

1 international acre is equal to 4046.8564224 square meters

1 United States survey acre is equal to 4046.87261 square meters

Nothing blinkered in my views. You don't realise just how bad our position is today, but you soon will.

As for the last fifty years, the average Westerner has never had it so easy. For a long time we've been used to things getting better year after year - hence the altruism and charity - those days are over, mark my words.

Yes I do!!! I have chosen to leave the inforced rat race and live a simple life precisely in one of those little houses without much, in the south of Spain (my home country). I grow my own vege, I live a simple life.

The last 50 years ... You weren't there to truly know how the average person lived!! But if you chose to read and believe the propaganda written by the political aspiring (or current) leaders (who are for the best part well off and have no idea how the other half lives) then that's up to you!! I come from a working class background and would greatly appreciate YOU not lecturing me about how easy me or a lot of people of my generation have had it.

If I'm not mistaken, I understood from another post of yours that you come from a middle class background. Which means you have no experience (and nor have your ancestors) how the other half lived in the last 50 years.

You still spouting off about my generation Truelaugh

The trouble with the young people of today is that they are not prepared to help themselves, preferring to take from the taxpayer. Foreigners are doing work that our own people should be doing ,as they are not prepared to do menial work.

I raised a child single handed, taught her values and morals, and to appreciate the things that she had. I am proud to say that she has her own successful business, several homes, and is set for life.

All it takes is the will to achieve, determination, and a bit of hard graft.
