Ive got a pair of magpies nesting in a gum tree in my backyard. They have never even attempted to swoop me or the dogs.

These birds have been using the same tree for the past few years. They have learnt the dogs and l are no threat to them, they are really quiet. I can even mow, whipper snip and poison around and under the tree and they dont bother me.
I've seen the bike helmets with the spikes sticking out of them. Think they might work?

I had a neighbor who for years fed the magpies on a daily basis... it was mince...
What happened is that eventually they outgrew their territorial space, and then when more and more were born, I 'd find a young one with a broken wing on the ground, I thought perhaps that the older magpies may have attacked it..I am not sure..
but since the neighbor left, there are not nearly as many magpies around, because we dont feed them anymore...

Yep l know how lucky l am with these magpies. I think the secret is they have never been tormented by kids so they dont feel the need to swoop. I stand thier under the tree and watch them feed the babies, its so cute to watch.
I wonder what a mag-pie tastes like… it would help if I knew what a meg was and how to catch one.

Ive got a pigeon that comes for a feed every day and just hangs around on my roof coooeing away when it needs more food or water. He just turned up a couple of months ago, l was only going to feed him till he got his strength back and ussumed he would leave as other pigeons have done in the past but he hasnt left. The magpies dont even bother him.
