Best holiday was travelling around Europe & GB for 3 months with the family. Was fantastic seeing all those places I had only read about or seen on tv/movies.

Would have been better if the wife's boyfriend hadn't bashed me the night before we left.

She reckoned she hadn't been 'seeing' him for a year before, and we had just spent the best part of $20,000 (in 1992) paying upfront for a lot of the trip. No use sitting at home stewing, might as well go and enjoy seeing the world.

You know this might sound strange but I'd like a holiday where I could volunteer on an archaeological dig. But it would have to be an interesting one where we were actually finding something. I wouldn't want to be out in the baking sun sifting tons of soil for miniscule bone chips. I would want to be finding the entrance to a long-lost Egyptian tomb or something.

The middle east, iraq, iran, ninevah, turkey, babylon, or take your pick in south america, they dig up whole cities, maybe one day the city of gold.

Yeah that sounds great, though notice all those areas have a large element of danger attached to them, eg religious zealots, drug lords, etc.

In response to: Your best holiday Or your idea of a perfect one

Club Med on the Whitsundays was the best holiday for me, complete relaxation no cooking, just white sand and the clear aqua coloured sea. happy place

So this has now become the "Have you ever" thread?

God yes, many times when you're just walking along minding your own business when you see a woman coming towards you who is so beautiful and desirable that yeah you would just like to plant one on her gorgeous lips.
But hey society isn't set up that way is it? In a way it's the forbidden nature of it all that makes it all the more desirable isn't it/

Doesn't sound strange at all Obs wine

I like an active holiday too, I get bored with the resort-type thing after 24 hours laugh

Have often checked out volunteering vacations, the ones where you go to somewhere like Africa and work in animal rehab or help in the village with schools etc grin

Just on a month on Santa Ana Island in the Solomons, next best would have been Darjeeling, next Kathmandu, next week with bike exploring Bali, Bangkok and going down the Rai river while trekking across the bourlder into Burma, oh of course couple months milking cows in Switzerland, sailing Sydney to Port Douglas think they would also be right up there amongst me best holiday
