I want to make a trifle but would like to make something unusual..
Was wandering how baileys or Kaluah would go instead of wine in the sponge layer...also..would rhubarb go ok as the fruit...????

Baileys because it has a touch of tartness that sherry and port have not sure about The Kuluah

I think rhubarb goes much better with custard, sea-meal custard if you have got some tis lot better for you than just cornflour.

Trifle yuck...is awfully sweet and though rhubarb needs lot sugar custard be better

Kaluah and milk in equal and large amounts , don't worry about the sponge or the fruit , just makes dishes . Dito for Baileys laugh

I think Rhubarb wound be yummy as its quite tart not sure about the other as wine really puts that lovely flavor in.

Hi Riva I have made a tropical trifle , use baileys in the s red paw paw add coconut to your cream ,use pinaple or lime jellywine
Ide lose the rhubarb unless your using a maidera or the grog wine

Hi Riva ive made a tropical trifle , use pinapple and mango or lychee/ pawapaw use bailys on the sponge add coconut to the cream and pine jelly.
if using rhubarb go with a madiera for the alcohol wine

Thanks everyone..some great tips there..I dont eat a lot of deserts so was a little worried.....

BRYANE....maybe Ill follow your advice and drink the Khalua.wine

CRUISER..on my next trip up your way Ill drop in a bowl..wave

ROBPLUM...was going to have a layer of custard.Like you I dont like eating sweet and thought the rhubarb would add a nice tangy contrastcheers

EPIRB...was thinking Ill leave the milk for the cereal ...laugh

MARTIA..was going to stay up till midnight if I had to to get your ideas on it grin

KIZZY....dam that tropical one sounds awesome and is on my list to make...never thought of mediera even though mediera and I are old friends from my young unruly days wink

Hi Rivame, you can always make a smaller test sample to see how it works out and adjust to suit. Rubarb trifle sounds interesting

My recipes usually consist of...

A bit of this then some of that and maybe Ill add some more of that laugh

working from the bottom up ..

2 layers of jam roll sponge soaked (very soaked) in Baileys with a few random dashes of Khalua (was the one for the pot and one for me style )

1 layer of port wine jelly

1 layer of custard

1 layer of rhubarb (didnt add quite as much sugar as usual when cooking)

1 layer cream sprinkled over with crushed left over easter eggs

strawberries to decorate

will post pic when I get it loaded on the puter
