A lot depends on how "no" is given as well. Sometimes "no" comes out sounding like "not yet" and sometimes it means "not a chance while the sun still shines and the nights gets dark."

Us poor males (and some females) have a blood rush that makes it hard to tell the difference at times. So how it is said is very important.

For example these could be helpful in getting the message across(although not exactly in these words):

"No, you have no chance in hell with me."

"No, I am not ready yet."

"No, if you were at least near my height, very good looking, extremely fit and able, and extremely rich, I might consider your offer."

that sounds like a salesman doing cold calling. A known fact that the more no's you get, the closer you are to getting a yes. After calling 50 people and getting 50 no's, the next one could be a yes...

Statistics.

But try calling the same person 50 times, and no will still mean no, plus it will get you into big strife including some not so nice expletives.

But call them back and they may have had time to think about the offercheering

I will never 'sign up' at the door. I am polite to them but want to check out the options. Same with phone enquiries.

"Give me your number and if I like your offer, I will contact you."

"This is strictly a 1 day offer, never to be repeated. If you sign up now, I will get my commission. And you have 7 days to cancel this."

2 days later = "Sorry, but I am not able to respond to your request. Please put this in writing and it will be processed in due course. Sory, you must send this as registered mail tom the address provided. There was no address provided? I am very sorry sir but you should have read the fine print before you signed it. Have a good day."

Totally agree with this, there's no room for grey areas or guessing games when it comes to communicating with the male species.

And that's not a criticism, it's a fact and most males I know would agree thumbs up

Women need to make it clear and concise, say exactly what what they mean (to him, not just their girlfriends).

It would go a long way toward demystifying the female species as far as men are concerned I think laugh

I am pretty much the same, although have days where will actually talk to them and when they start pressuring just ask "Did I call you?" then you get the usual blah blah that you will miss out, and I still reply I will call your company if and when I want to buy.

I dont like door-to door salespeople or phone sales. If I want I will research. And yep I know it keeps them in a job, but I cant support everyone!

maybe the problem is that people when they hear the word "No" consider it a challenge to change the other persons view point.

I always assume that if someone has said NO, No is what they mean

I honestly have to admire the persistence of some call centre salespeople .. if they got themselves a real job, out there with real people in the real marketplace, they would probably make a killing.
