Good morning grin

Yes, I have done a lot of volunteering in the past, from running youth groups, scouts, collecting for charities to doing first-aid at sports events.

I don't do as much now, but I would still collect for the Irish Cancer Society on Daffodil Day bouquet

There's obviously a lot of good-hearted people in this world as many organisations are overwhelmed with offers of support and have no vacancies conversing

This is heartening, don't you think wine

Yup, my daughter and I did volunteer our henna/mehendi services at a local Chinese school yesterday. Proceeds go to an orphanage nearby and some would go to an old folks home as well.

Our hands were aching at the end of the day but the satisfaction we both got out of it = priceless

Does dedicating 3 years of my life to my local GAA (Gaelic Football) club count? confused

I've never been actively involved with any charities but I would love to help at a local animal shelter, and if I had any spare cash, that's where it would go too dancing dog

I do wine

But people should also realise that they, themselves, get valuable experience from it yoo.

Whether dealing with other people, or getting experience doing PR work, etc.

Potential employers like to see your CV full of volunteering work also.

It is a win win situation cheering

Hey Serene and Molly

I was taught how to double quote but it's a far and distant memory laugh

Serene, I'm a very infrequent visitor these days, just couldn't be bothered and all the craic seems to have left long ago.....

Molly, I don't know your preferences in sport, but believe me, 3 years as a club treasurer (which included one All Ireland Final ticket debacle) should have earned me a sainthood laugh

Now I must go and walk the hounds for the final time tonight cool

Yes volunteered several times to talk before college students at there respective universities on career days about job skills, interviewing techniques, job search skills, resume writing and the like. As you might guess by my user name career30, I have been in the career educational field for 28 years and sold career educational training materials to schools and universities from my company. It was very fulfilling to help and give back and to see the young students and even there professor's appreciate it. And does give you an up-lift to give of your time and share what ever skills or training you may have with others.

Coached a number of children's sports badly, and was instrumental in starting the premier children's hockey team here in Saudi Arabia.

Okay, so it's the ONLY children's hockey team, but still...

Yes I started out volunteering at a young age as a candy striper. And here recently just finished a project I started and was overwhelmed by the many who supported the project making my dream a success. I don't know if this counts but I have joined many walks where people have made pledges for the amount of miles I walk. Here in the United States many organizations that help the needy use these as fund raisers. Sadly I have reached a point in life where I would like to do one more marathon walk and then stick to one to six miles walk. My feet are protesting over exceptionally long walks. blues There are many causes that I like to support. I do like to feel my time or my money is being well used on those who need it and not furnishing ceo's big healthy bonuses wave
