guysimple: I am giving you one example. I read few years before in india there was a guy who was good in hacking and was just 19-20 yr old guy got job as a programmer. Degree is not important in software field but the knowledge..
If you are good in coding and not BS you can get a job as a software engineer.

Sorry to burst your l-eggs Simple-guy but there is huge difference between a programmer and a software Engineer.

You do get a Software Engineer degree from a University or a College (when you do finish it, not some) only!

Unless I am wromg.

"A programmer position is usually the one of a professional hired to to produce the code of a computer program. It will imply that you know how to write code, can understand an algorithm and follow specifications. However, it usually stops there in terms of responsibility.

A developer position is usually considered a super-type of the programmer position. It encompasses the same responsibilities, plus the ability to design and architect a software component, and to write the technical documentation for it (including specifications). You are able to - at least technically - lead others (so, programmers), but not necessarily a team (there comes the fuzz...)

An engineer position would usually imply that you are a developer who has a specific type of degree, some knowledge of engineering, and is capable of designing a system (as in: a combination of software components/modules that together form a whole software entity). Basically, you see a wider picture, and you are capable of designing and explaining it and separating it into smaller modules."

Quite right Unlaosed!

There is a difference between a developer and a Engineer.

To be an Engineer of any type you do need to have a degree from either a University or a College.

What it will make sense If i show you my resume when you dont know the degrees name. Knowledge always given to those who have little bit knowledge about it. for example only those person can value a nobel prize those know what is Nobel prize.

I am not saying that whether OP has degree or not But I am sure someone who is good in programming can be a software engineer ( who knows how to develop software which is based quite on programming/coding).

Sorry Simpleguy but I need not to know your resumé but if the OP says she is a Software Engineer (in her profile) then she has to have gotten a degree on it not matter how good or bad she is at programming.
