Why? little feet when born, put on their certificate of birth?
It's not the custom in my country. I can't tell if they did it long time ago. When a baby is born, all data about the new born goes straight to the tax authority!
It is baby's first fingerprint, except it is a toe print. In America it has been used to confirm identity. Like fingerprints, the toe prints never change. At age 80 you can still be identified.
mollybaby: Do you mean a print of the baby's feet?
Actually they ink the bottom of the baby's foot and press it on paper, not the birth certificate (see link). It's just like a fingerprint. It was done in the U.S. years ago. Don't know if they still do it.
