Rise above them mate, pity them, and learn to be assertive around them and talk down to them. Don't even think about them, they're not worth your time.
Take up something simple like boxing, great for self defence and confidence.

Yes, this is normal, my friend.
The world is a big, big place and there are soooooo many people. Not everyone has the same moral compass, I'm afraid. As such, people WILL treat others badly, intentionally and unwittingly. You may need to develop a thicker skin but..... its not just about what the world throws at you, there's nothing you can do about that..... its about how YOU deal with it.
