Of the five I mailed, 4 never responded & 1 said she was sorry but I wasn't her type... Can anyone put light on the reasons why... I was very polite & humorous in my emails?

You may find it hard to believe but in the real world I do ok but it's the age gap that is the problem . My last serious relationship was with a girl younger than me by a few years but the it became a problem because she wanted a family & I didn't.

I don't see a reason not being polite to someone if he is polite.
Compatibility is important methinks, if that's not there in the start (or someone knows it reading a profile) I think you just avoid disappointment and hassle.

I'm going by your original post where you stated that you contacted these ladies out of boredom and wanted to experiment with sending emails to women you wouldn't give a second look at in reality. Are you now saying that you would have taken a sincere interest in them if they had replied in favour?
