The abc stores don't open till 1:00 on Sundays. I asked them what they were waiting on one day....the church crowd. There were people sitting all over the parking lot waiting for them to open. Go out west and you can buy alcohol in CVS, Walmart....everywhere. They don't know what an abc store is....but they don't sell shine, either.
Growing up we had no liquor stores was not sold in any of the stores or anywhere. Completely dry. I have not been back since the nineties and when I was there last they had started selling beer and wine at stores. Winn dixie, CVS, etc but still no bars or clubs. Thinking about going back for a visit next year. Still got family there. I spent winters here in Florida while growing up and this is what I actually consider my home. I went to school here. Still though guess I am a tarheel. I choose to make my own shine. It is smooth and use it for gifts to friends at holidays etc. I don't drink enough to make it just for me

The other day I noticed they've got signs up saying you need photo ID to buy an air still now because people are using them to make amphetamines. And you're supposed to only run 5 litres of wash through at a time, but I dont think anybody really worries about it.
I would love to visit Australia one day. Now I know I would feel right at home. I will refrain from making shine for they might not like that from a visitor

The equipment and ingredients are sold legally, the product is only for personal use. There are probably factory made or imported stuff labelled as moonshine but I've never tried it. A friend looked into the proper recipe, I think it has sugar and cinnamon and a few things like that in it, I just use American oak/French oak/juniper berries depending what I am making.

I would love to try some of your shine and see how it compares to what is made over here. They have corn or sugar liquor, some with fruit, some is just plain ole' White Lightning.

Reflux still, shouldnt be a lot of difference. I reckon different brands of yeast give a different result, more so how it runs and what the tails smell like. But yeah, over the years its helped me make heaps of shtithouse decisions.
