galrads: .... pretty gutsy photographers imho.. getting so close
I hope it stops real soon , worst winter I can remember was following Pinatobo . I lost hundreds of new born lambs due to the extended winter . Many farmers were caught with breeding ewes in our highcountry causing heavy losses buried under snow . Bad news apart from the boost to sheep prices following year . Spose the bloody skiers will be rubbing their hands expecting deep snow .

Do you not have a place to keep them in in such bad weather?
Mount Etna, so far from us in North America; wait till a volcano erupts in Alaska or Washington State; or some other area in the US which with all the debris let loose into the air and higher up into the atmosphere...It certainly won't stop the budget cuts to the EPA, but it certainly has given the KGB admirers of the present US regime a new slogan: "Let's Make America Dirty Again! No clean air to breathe and no clean water to drink! Yeah! "

POTUS Obama has hurt the state and local EPA budgets regarding air quality control. Air quaility programs here have been largely funded by permit fees (operate and install), not federal grants and matching state/local funds.
The biggest permit fee payers in Ohio, for instance, were coal fired power plants owners and operators and ~33 units in Ohio alone have been ordered retired and shut down under the Obama administration.
ohio met usepa national Air Quality standards for surfer dioxide for some time. Now, with less permit fees rolling in, there is probably not enough money to cover enforcement, automobile inspection main maintenance, stack testing, other inspections, and air quality monitoring in Ohio for smaller businesses that pollute with nastier stuff.

Well Obama certainly did not adequately take care of the fall out of those coal-fired power plants spring poison into the air let alone the coal mining people who seem to still be caught in a never ending merry-go- round of health care premiums versus medical care. They can't afford both and they can't or should not have to choose one over the other. I still remember the debates over their medical coverages and actual medical care from my high school days. It seems that no one wants to actually take care of their work related health problems to this day; they are used as pawns in games with their lives and health at risk for whatever "greater good" they do for their country with more people coming into risk of health problems directly related to undrinkable water from a variety of causes seemingly without cheap, temporary fixes that will not solve this problem either. Everyone should have free access to clean water and air to breath, not just the rich who, in coal residue contaminated air may have to walk along with oxygen tanks on wheels and a mask while the working poor will be chocking their guts out on the streets or hospital corridors because their medical coverage won't afford them a room. I do not envision a healthy clean world in most of the old industrial areas of the US, not that it ever really was but only hospital records could show us from past rates of air and water pollution to 5 years from now...

You can't make an omelete without breaking some eggs. Could US manufacturing ever be as dirty as cheap imports? What's the alternative? Utterly ignorant, savage people with no trade unions, no protection and absolutely nothing for beady-eyed smugwhites to swoop in on and turn their lands to ash and smog whilst preening at the same time?
