ok so I am the 'new boy' on the block and probably have a lot to learn about the forum culture in CS... I accept that...
but what I have difficulty with, is the amount of misogynistic comments directed at forum members... has it become so acceptable in today’s society, that one or two members can make rude, lewd and often degrading and derogatory comments to and about other women members?
sure there is the report button, but all that does is give someone in the back office a job…
do we name and shame? … most of the members who have been around the site for a few years, already know who these people are, and have their way of dealing with them… ignoring… not replying… banning them from their threads… all well and good, but I have wonder and ask, is that an acceptable way to talk to a woman? because if it is, then I’m out of here… not what I signed up for…

there is a lot of jealousy involved from certain members who can't take no for an answer, and lash out with insulting comments.

My favourite quote is;"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality but at the end of the day, if you give those bullies, that are so ignorant, the power to affect you, you’re letting them win. And they don’t deserve that. What you’re doing by being yourself is you’re keeping it real, and you’re being really brave."

I have been here a long time and it has ever been so.
Something has been going on for you to come up with this blog i will have a hunt, but just stick to blogs and folk you like, it even then esculates into unpleasantness just walk away or fight your corner then walk to cool down.
Tomorrow is another day and we do need new members because us old ------ need new ideas from new people.
From what I understand, this thread follows some comments made on another thread about women and the OP is just expression his opinion on some insults that were made.

There are occasions when a man needs to be emotional to become more than himself. Anger is just as good as courage in a fight we can't all nonchalantly save the day like James Bond.

........Have you Sir ever heard of the saying "If you want to know somebody just look at who their friends are"?.......You can be rest assured that John has more friends around here than you will ever have......both male and female.......all the nice, friendly, funny people around here interact with him the whole time and never have a bad word to say about him......If the occasion arises when some people set out to rile him and he responds to them in a certain way......he is always, in my view, correct about those people......most of whom are more than capable to be snipier and nastier than John will ever be and they definitely do not need a thread set up by you in their honour to defend them........
Inthewoods: I'm not college educated..... quit using these big words......
Just think of the word mysogyny as a Greek word as the Greeks invented it - and the many mysogynists still existent in Greek communities in the UK act like a mafia and would still treat women with contempt today unless they fight back.
