Do other countries have present day super heroes or monsters, besides the USA and Japan?

Do people growing up in other countries read our comic books? Do you have your own?

I can’t imagine prepubescent and maturity without these super heros?

Is there a Russian equivalent to atom ant, spider man, super woman, green lantern, iron man, elastic dude, torch, thing, Thor, lightning lad, aquman, Batman, Superman etc?

Is there a Chinese Terminator? A Mexican Dr. Doom? A Canadian Super girl? A British Braniac? A South African Flash.

Where is an Egyptian Tony Stark? Is there a Tarzan in Bolivia?

help

You hit the nail on the head with opening question. With specific reference to "present day super heroes"

Let me start of by saying no!
Not in the Marvel and DC sense of the word.
Britain Had tiger comics which turned into 2000ad. Fantastic stuff.
Thargs future shocks used to fire my imagination in youth, as did judge Anderson . wow

Most other country's have a very rich deep culture dating back to the tradition of the bards and and fire side shamanic story telling.
If you look at the latest super hero movies and their best selling root stories in paper form you will see they are tied into this deeper culture.
Thor Ragnarok for example.
Justice league drew heavily on tales of Atlantis and The Amazonian's as does the comic.

Here in Ireland we have A telling of the Táin Bó Cúailnge. The Stuff of Legends. beer
This has been the source of many movies books and comic plots and sub plots. as has Norse mythology.
All which I am sure although have not searched for proof if any is needed to see these cultures in Tolkins Lord of the rings.

A book you may find interesting is The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell.

I checked out The Hero with a Thousand Faces on Amazon and might down load a digital copy of it. Doesn’t look like it has picture like with the Hulk busting out of his suit when he’s enraged.

Sure but they are based on real historical figures portrayed in epic literature...

Hi Gal wave

Yeap! All of us outside US grew up with our own Superheros, there are 2 with stories particularly fascinating: Kaliman & El Chapulin Colorado, both mexican but you can find more in every LA country Súper Hijitus from Argentina and Condorito in Chile ...I was never a fan of Superheros (except from my Batman of course) much more into other sort of cartoons as Mafalda from Argentina, she is like Peanuts but (sorry for this) a 10000 times better than Charly Brown.

Like you, I grew up on tales of the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Fir Bolg.

Fionn mac Cumhaill; Cú Chulainn; Oisín; Medb, etc.

Medb was my favourite...I always thought I would grow up to be a pirate queen laugh

I wanted to be Catboy (note: not Catgirl laugh )

All went well until Catboy scaled the side of a hill at the age of 6, then looked down and saw how far from the ground he/she was, and panicked.

Catboy's brother then had to get Catboy's father to come rescue him/her.

End of Catboy.blues

Totally cute story Molls.. loved it! :)

You should’ve hollered for Mighty Mouse.. I’m sure he was behind the bushes watching intently as catboy climbed the hill.. I’ve heard it’s quite the view... the hill of course. angel
