I took a week off from everything after finding out a friend had passed away. There have been quite a few over the last couple years, and this year, but this one in particular hit me very hard. We've been friends since we were 12, same age down to the day, celebrated many a birthday together. One thing that really bothers me is, that nobody told me he even had cancer, let alone he died. Makes one feel somewhat irrelevant and unimportant.
