Natural births vs. Cesarian sections........ (54)

Reading a doggie medical book, saw that vets do both. Each of course can be life saving in its own way, and both come with small but real risks. Our twins were CS's , with mom quite in shape but at rish for being in mid forties. So I thought I'd bring up the topic, among all the titillating blogs, forums and poetry.

Natural, unless physically impossible for some medical reason...

Of course you are right Pk. As with breast feeding. Here in the states, until recently, up to a quarter of births in some places were CS's, probably far too many. Pressure from nurse midwives, GP's, Pediatricians, public health folks and others have finally reversed the trend. Active research might show that early exposure to mom's bacteria by natural birthing sets the immune system so as to avoid the recent Rise in various auto immune diseases. The microbiome is part of us.

Wife pregnant in her forties wtf is that?
It’s cruel and selfish to damage your kids genetically like a liberal modern parent would and at the same time sound like the right-wing sad dad who puts a massive downer on everything. Give the poor bastards a chance.

It's nothing abnormal nowadays and it's down to how healthy the mother is...
Many I know had kids in their forties...
Wouldn't an old father material damage the poor kid genes?
It's pure nonsense to think the man can become a father in later age but a woman can not be a mother...
Young age doesn't mean you are healthy and your genes are great...or that your kids will be blessed with them...

And it's not a war between the young and the older ones...
But sometimes I think youngsters forget we've been there and done it ourselves...and thought the same way... laugh

Thanks, all. CC, me man, you need to work on that judgemental anger. Otherwise, great posts. I'm hardly a liberal, ask miss loulou. Pk, yes, roberta and I are friends but no longer an item. Mother of the girls. I agree, that the forties are not ideal for a first pregnancy, but she's a marathon lady, and a serious black belt holder in Tae Kwon Do Karate. Nuff said. But bot older dad's and moms carry increasd risks of problems.

People should do what they feel is right, and the others will always find something to judge them for...

My mother was 43 when she bore me. Nothing unusual about that in the past. She also breast fed me and my siblings cause we were poor and formula was expensive.

Natural. Everytime. It's only right that you should get a measure of our suffering.

Topic like this would need an experience obstetrician's knowledge. For all the participants. Otherwise, what's the point?

Thakns all, and Svenske kvinne. I disagree for several reasons. Just as it's racist and dumb to insist that only persons of one race can understand applicable human cultural issues, non medical folks have valid viewpoints on all aspects of their health. We should respect these, and challenge them if we find reasons to disagree. Education evolves, no? Thesis, antithesis and synthesis. Also, helpful information on these subjects hardly requires all the training of a "QualifiedOB"/gyn. Legislators, most without any such training, routinely, with input from medical and lay folks alike, decide on all sorts of issues, as do hospital/clinic administrators. Midwives, nurse or otherwise, have much to add here, as do other complementary/alternative practitioners. Furthermore, CS's were an issue in my family, and all sorts of such issues get posted here, for discussion. This in spite of the few with restricted and censuring personalities. But often, when one sees such objections, the censurer isn't far themself from the experience. Methinks, me Lord, the Jennte doth protest too much.
