I'm a very lazy person when it comes to exercising. Not only that I'm lazy, but I hate it. laugh I've always had a very "healthy" attitude that it's easier to starve than exercise if you don't want to put on any weight. uh oh laugh

However, I realized that the lack of exercising started to affect me. I have no energy, my back started to hurt and I generally feel that I really need some physical activity. I decided to start today, but then I got up and hit my toe and it is all swollen and blue now and that prevented me from starting to pursue my goal. blues

Maybe the Universe wants to send me some message, perhaps that I should keep avoiding physical activity? confused laugh

Still, I won't allow that small delay to prevent me from starting to lead more healthy lifestyle. boxing

Do you exercise or - maybe - play some sport? Do you have any advice for beginners?

I find most exercises to be monotonous and boring. I was searching for something that looks like dancing on Youtube, but most dancing exercises seem very advanced. I'm afraid that I'm going to give up after 5 minutes (even less)! blues

Any suggestions are welcome! thumbs up

If you think you'll give up after 5 minutes, then start off on 4 minutes.
As your energy improves, then you will be able to do it for longer each time, and actually enjoy it.

Try It's fun and you can do it at your own pace. Or try Kundalini yoga.

I have a lot of pain issues that for the most part have not been helped by Doctors. Over time as the pain has progressed my motivation to do things has also suffered especially since anytime I do most things it makes the pain worse. A side affect of that is my strength dropped and it got more difficult to keep my balance when I stood or walked. I made the decision to exercise despite the fact that it's very painful to do so.
I'm glad I did, because I have regained normal balance and have increased my strength in general. It also has helped some with my back pain.
The benefits will far out weigh any boredom you may have.

If you don't like routine then mix it up. I have a girlfriend that is like that and gets bored easily.

So she mixes it up with what she does in the gym some days cardio, some days weights other times different classes.

Personally I enjoy Yoga. Not just for the exercise but for the clearing the negative energies out as well.

Sitting on dating sites & forums doesn't help !
Regular walks & some sort of physical activity will help erase those aches & pains.. also having a partner with a similar goal to help spur you on, wouldn't hurt !

Just walk!
Get outside in the fresh air, I like early morning when its cool, or evening, but If it's cold out, I might go during the warmest time of the day. walk slow and look around, or power walk for a workout... and its free.

Thanks all for your suggestions. thumbs up

It's not that I have some special pain - it's more that I feel somehow - stiff and inflexible.

I like dancing, so I'll search for some EASY dancing routine - starting with 2-3 minutes. help

And walking is always a good thing to do. thumbs up

Exercising is vital, disregarding the age and health status..,
You may eat healthy but that's nowhere enough for your body...
I exercise 40-50 minutes every day, doing different groups of muscles and some therapeutic exercises...
My BMI is 17.30, but it's muscle on the expense of fat...
Try something easy first, you'll definitely get hooked with the time...

Hi beautiful Miss Mayako. One thing that I've always wanted to try to keep supple is Yoga. I get my weight fitness from work being a builder an all. One thing I did really enjoy and found it helped with cardio work was table tennis ( ping pong ) . It was a lot of fun. But I moved and closest now is too far away. Hope you find something you enjoy. teddybear peace

Thank you all for your comments! thumbs up

I tried Zumba and pilates in the past - started and gave up many many times - so I suppose they are not for me. I also began to go to the gym on several occasions, but found their exercising to be too demanding, so - again - gave up.

Table tennis sounds fun, but I'm not sure there's any club offering that in my town.

If anyone else has some dance workout to recommend - feel free to post any time. wine

Hi Maya,

I don't have any dance routine I could recommend, other than just swingin those hips round, doing your own thing, in the privacy of your home with some good music.

I exercise daily.....up to an hour and half. Getting some fresh air and a change in scenery is motivating. I power walk an hour, quick workout on upper body with weights, body stretching, leg lifts etc and yoga. I mix it all up. I don't keep to the same routine.

I usually give myself one day off a week.

I enjoy it.

Once you start an exercise program you like, it's difficult to give up.....as you tend to feel sluggish without it....I find anyway.

That's what many people say. The most important thing is to make it a habit.

I don't know why I dislike exercising so much. I think I'd rather do anything else. Whenever I make a plan to start exercising, everything else (including cleaning) starts to look appealing. laugh

I like dancing and always enjoyed it. When I was younger and went out in the evening much more - I could dance all night long. I thought Zumba could be fun, but it wasn't. sigh

I'll have to search for something else...

Thanks for your reply, all. cheers

Limun included. laugh
