It isn't really about who knows you completely, as most people don't. It's more about who's willing to put in the time and effort to find out.

The thing is we try to convince ourselves that we are the person we want to be. I agree, we are in denial. We know the real me.
When we go on a first date we put on a good performance to make a good impression. You only get one chance to make a good impression. If you don't make it on the first date there might not be a second date. So some people have to emphasize who they are.
I do know who I am. The only other person that knows me well is my daughter and that's because she has seen me go through some very hard times.
However, I thought I knew who she truly is but I found out recently that there's another side to her People hide the real person and when it comes out it's usually a shock to what has been revealed.
Once when I 'discovered another side' to my daughter, after the initial shock, I realised there is nothing my daughter has to do or not do for me to love her. It was a true eureka moment of really getting what unconditional love feels like. The thing is we try to convince ourselves that we are the person we want to be. I agree, we are in denial. We know the real me.

Nobody fully understands anyone else.
As for who knows me best it's hard to say.
We show different people different parts of ourselves.
We're scared of the unknown so we fill in gaps in our knowledge with guesses, and convince ourselves we know things we do not.
