My father lived in the USA in the fifties for a while. There was a restaurant where if you had a steak you could drink as much beer as you wanted. Is this possible?...It always struck me how they stopped alcoholics from buying a steak and then staying all day until they blacked out?

There are places that serve gigantic proportions that are virtually impossible to eat, that have "all you can drink", but I never heard of the drink being an alcohol. Could be though.. back in the 50's it was much less of #NannyState And people didn't require mass instructions and restrictions... Adults and society policed themselves. Or so I hear. Maybe it was "Roadhouse", in the 50's, in a rural area?
