Are you or people you know affected by the full moon?

Some people show spiteful, obnoxious, obsessed, short tempered tendencies in the week coming to a full moon. Other become more sensitive, or anxious...

Do you think the full moon affects our "internal tide" like it does the oceans? conversing

That's certainly an interesting question Sel, and one I've pondered at times.

I see the effect the moon has on the Atlantic and it's tides here and given we're ..I dunno..is it 80% water? (I could be miles out there lol)..I've wondered too, are we subject to the same pull. Then again, we're so tiny compared to the ocean; maybe it's so tiny an effect it's barely perceptible....We're also designed to live on this planet and it's enviroment. Maybe our bodies are in harmony with the moon the same way it's in harmony with the earth's frequency so measurement of any effects would be nigh on impossible. :dunn:

I don't know if I'd be inclined to believe it affects our emotional/mental state though...I can be obnoxious, short tempered and/or sensitive regardless of where the moon is lol....

Maybe we should ask the man on the moon? laugh

Ask anyone who works in the ER or on the OBS ward of a hospital and they will tell you that people with mental issues flood the ER's when there's a full moon and pregnant women will start labour on a full moon (if their EDD is close).

Yes, internal tides. True they exist. I get especially lonely if I am by myself with any full moon and even so with just a half moon like in this photo I took of it over Dublin, Ohio a few days ago. Maybe this happens to me because I cant see the plaque on the surface of the Moon commemorating my university’s alumni chapter there.

Well if you think how immense the ocean is and the power the moon has to provoke a tide, I imagine the effect within our human bodies must be equally impactful dunno

May it affects more the bodies/minds of those who are not "in harmony" dunno

Yes, the moon affects my menstrual cycle. I get different 'symptoms' depending upon where I am in my cycle in relation to where the moon is in her cycle.

That's super interesting Jac!
Do you get to actually recognise the moon cycle from your symptoms? conversing

It's just dawned on me. The effect of the moon is it's gravitational pull. That's the same (effect) as the earth's gravitational pull that keeps our feet on the ground

There's a (mathematical) equation called the inverse square law and it's usually applied to the gravitational pull of gravity/objects..The further an object gets away from earth, the effect of the earth's gravity is reduced by the square of the distance..so if I'm correct (and I might be on the wrong track here) then it should be possible to actually calculate the effect (pull) of the moon our bodies...

Also, the moon's gravitational pull will be in opposition to the earth's pull..so there's proabably a little tug-of-war going on there and most of the moon's pull is going to be negated by the earth's (because the earth is far larger than the moon and we're actually standing on earth)...so what ever's left over (pull wise) is the moon's effect...

hmmm

Sorry that's probably a bit garbled..doh

Yeah well other cs members do have better moon shots than mine. I think that is partially true due to the fact they probably have less light pollution around where they live.regarding the plaque.. the Apollo 15 mission in 1971 established a chapter of the University's alumni association on the Moon and placed the plaque there.
