Those types are yes...the older we get the less we want to wear them...but alot now come with a platform support which lessens the heel length while still giving the height....lolI'd wear the platform heel types now..now way would I be able for those ones above.

I always think it's ironic that women nearly always state on their profile that a man must be taller than they are.....and yet wearing high heels makes themselves taller!

Height is positively correlated with earnings. There is a few explanations why it's so (dominance, leadership, competence, sometimes only visual, but still...) and I even stumbled on a guide for women "How to make yourself look taller" (made in USA, of course).------ This thread is Archived ------

Those explanations make sense alright. I often think that logically it's men not women who should wear high heels, (assuming that a male version of the high heel could be made) because women deem it important in a man but men couldn't care less about it in a woman.------ This thread is Archived ------

Would you agree that there's something about power and the attractiveness of that where a woman is much taller than a man..I mean a good head and almost shoulders above a man...is there this thing that the man likes the power a woman gives off when she's taller.

Just that I know a couple where he is literally looking at her collar bone...now they seem happy but does it give him a sense of power to have a woman taller or ??

Looking at the shoes, then yes, I imagine they would be agony to wear, but a well designed, well made pair are surprisingly comfortable if they fit properly..Crikey, I've just realised that the last time I wore those kind of shoes was xmas 2019...

Have no judgement on whether the man or woman is taller...but I guess like everything else you are more used to seeing the man taller than the woman...just wondered about it as all...First time seeing a marriage where she is so much taller....she is definately her boss as most women are haha...but just something that always struck me about it.Must admit I never thought about it like that....yeah, I could see how it could give him that sense alright.

Some times ago , I met a man online ... His first criteria for a woman was , "Either she has to be tall enough to match with his hight (almost 6') or she has to wear high heels to look taller than she naturally is... And also he finds woman saxier with high heels" !!!

That looks like Japanese women's feet and the effect of having their feet broken in order to make them smaller.. .God even just thinking about what those poor girls were put through at such a young age makes me go cold...I'll never understand how one human being can be so so cruel to another, especially to a child that has no way to defend itself...it's inhumane, it's a cruel torture and it's utterly abhorrent......and how it debilitates women.

Both practises reduce mobility and cause long-term health issues for the sake of perceived beauty and refinement, or status.
Given the similarities, what is it about this foot (mis)shape that is/has been appealing in more than one culture and time? And why only for women?

Jac, the point you (didn't) make wasn't really the point. The OP was just asking women why they would choose to wear such high heels because they look like hell to wear..That's all. I'm not sure why you needed to go to such an extreme either. There's absolutely no comparison between the Japanese breaking a child's foot in two (without anesthetic I might add) and a grown woman deciding to wear a pair of shoes that "might" do a little damage or might not.
