CossackCat: THANKSGIVING CLOCK Countdown to – Thursday, November 24th
I can't believe it is less than 9 days away.
I can't believe the turkey culling and subsequent shortage or the price of them
I can't believe the price of all food now.

Never was a fan of Thanksgiving or Easter dinners.
Those BIG family dinners were assigned to my mother, (by her family) which in turn meant, once us girls turned 11 years old, we were put to work cooking and cleaning, for a week.

The last "traditionsl" Thanksgiving dinner I made, I was in my 30's and I threw the turkey out the window.

So no thank you to the holiday servitude.

My Thanksgiving is making what I want, and knowing, I will never have to host a holiday dinner again. dancing

My neighbor in her early thirties, told me she has no idea what to do for Thanksgiving. (She means the expense.)
I felt kind of bad for her, I think she never had "hard-up holidays", before
I felt worst that she didn't know what to give or make her elder relatives.
(That could be on their last holiday season, by the sound of it).
I asked her if she knew anyone who was making a traditional dinner. She doesn't... and neither do I .
No one can afford it. Even my Italian or Asian dinner ideas.... unatainablele sigh

My thoughts are that we are having it regardless as Turkeys are on sale for well under $1.00 a pound. The same as last years price. Sweet Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, fresh vegetables, and Pies are on sale now at a steal of a price
There are plenty of traditional meals being prepared and served in our community as shopping wisely is the key
Everyone who cannot cook or wants a free meal will bring their family to a local Center who is serving
