They hate that you are something they can't or won't be so instead of trying to achieve happiness themselves, they stay bitter and try to take away your happiness. Seen it lots of times, I play a completely deaf ear to them. It really pisses them off when they get no reply or acknowledgement from you.

People who try to bring me down I just cut out of my life, yes we all have bad days but constant criticism and moaning I'm not interested. It took me till I was 60 to start to stick up for myself and cut them off and wow how my life improved.
