Quite frankly,I think it's despicable. But nothing can be done about it. Hopefully I am wrong.

Agree, but I am more optimistic than you. Something can be done about it.

Anything done would be against public opinion as dictated by the mercenary Media.

I’d be happy if something can be done about it, but I am not going to hold my breath.

No, you would break the world record and end in Guinnes if you attempted that stunt...lol

I don't think insanity will prevail. Only for a limited amount of time, you see.

cheers

You forget how hard it is to get bad laws rolled back. Some idiotic taxes got stopped in California a decade ago or so, but I can remember no other recent change in that direction. Only violent cancellation of a government can do it, I'm afraid. Not something I would look forward to, BTW.

To say it frankly, bright and clear:

Among others, its a Human Rights abuse.

The current trend of developments of significant changes towards dictatorship of or in so called "democracies" are more and more obvious.

Not only that the Right of Free Speech is heavily under attack, but the concerted and across borders campaigning and missuse by governments, military, economic, science, social and cultural leaders of (public) media and opinion building processes, seems to become a clear phenomenum of our times.

Its up to the people, to identify these threats on our democracies, to point on the misuse and to vote or protest accordingly.

Censorship of the media is important because it is dangerous and harmful to society. This must be monitored because the media is a dangerous weapon and can be used for evil.

It's more dangerous to let a specific few decide what is true or false
than to show it all to us- so we can decide for ourselves.
Democracy is based on free exchange of thought and ideas.
The useless ones seldom get a majority- though there are exceptions (Hamas).

The real censorship is being carried out by the Media. It's a whole new ballgame. The other Weapon of Mass Destruction in WWII was Goebbel's propaganda machine, and now it has a life of its own--except that it's owned.
Nor should a foreign-owned Press be protected by our Constitution.

So, I'm not quite sure just where your forum is going--censorship is generally regarded (in The United States) as a negative; we have freedom of speech, freedom to move about, etc... However, there are also mandates similar and including not shouting "Fire!" when there is none, nor making threatening statements, etc...so, a form or forms of censorship exist and have existed.

Well, i am never sure myself where my threads may go these days. They are really open for any direction. I am really surprised how free speech is being diminished in seemingly authoritarian places like the UK. I don't want to talk about our present leadership in Washington but anyone else can.

For instance, I am sure Pat Condell explains common sense better and what is happening in the UK better than I ever can. He is very articulate but not boring. Give him a listen in this video if you like.

A crisis of free speech ...
