One day a year we open doors for someone, give to charity, think of the less fortunate. We are such humanitarians. But only once a year.

Why do we drink on New Year's Eve? Why do we celebrate love on Valentines? What's the deal with Fireworks on the 4th of July?

If we all loved each other and expressed it all the time, we would have no use for any holiday.

I try to donate to charities and causes through out the year. Though, I can never afford to give a lot, a little throughout the year helps.

No Leo, we also are kind when we share chocolates on Easter time, when we offer a gift for Valentine's day, when we hug or just wish each other an Happy New Year during all January month.... It means more than once in a year...

I like to think i'm compassionate all year round. After all if your homeless at christmas and found shelter come boxing day your back on the street. So sad many people don't realise that they could be only a few steps away from being homeless them self .

I try to live in a "pay it forward" ideology all year round.
In these days, one cannot rely on the old ideas of kindness to be there when things are rough.
We have to make an aggressive choice to be bigger than the sorrows around us, stronger than the cruel & selfish... & kinder at heart, regardless of the opposition.
Bottom line, don't wait until a holiday to show a little kindness.

In New Orleans we used to say:

"Be nice or go home."

thumbs up

at least it a break from being pessimistic and scolding and pitying all year.

so how can that be bad?

i have met literally thousands of people that are service minded
and walk that out pretty consistently

if one isnt doin nothin
like workin or whatever-why not spend time doing volunteer work?
ive felt better and even found a few jobs that way

actual disaster victims that are physically able
immediately get busy for others - the good of the whole...

ya get out what ya put in
so i can expect good as i give it
thats simple math...
