diogenes: You're so insightful!

We should have a meaningful, and understanding relationship with each other......at least once
Don't know about the meaningful and understanding part, but at least once would be nice! laugh

TBH .. I see those threads and think.. Uhuh... the Kiss of death..

9 times out of ten those relationships seem to go wrong.

Bit like the couples shouting it from the roof tops in the glossy celeb magazines..

a short time later its all over the news they are splitting up.

CS glossy kiss of death.. uh oh

alabamabebe: Ok, I'll confess, I did it one time. The first (and last so far) semi-serious relationship I had from here. I was so excited about the feelings I had for this man, I just had to tell everyone! Those feelings had been so long gone for me, I was just so happy I could feel again. Yeah we probably got a little sickening on here at first. It lasted a year, and I have no regrets, it was a good transition for me. I didn't come on here and whine about it when it was over. I have no bad feelings for him. He's probably a good person, for someone else. Or maybe I was just being used, but I allowed it cause I enjoyed it too, so that's not really being used is it?

He's not even on here any more, or I wouldn't even be talking about it now. I don't hold it against anyone when they get all excited and have to tell the world, especially the first time, but my first thought now is here we go again. But the ones who do it every few months, I just have to wonder, do they ever learn from their experience? Some things are better kept to yourself and close friends. People who have to display everything to the whole world do seem to be looking for outside confirmation that should be coming from within.

Oo yep I agree.. good post Bev thumbs up

i dont think CS relationships are very short
i think sometimes in excitement people go too far too early?
and then people naturally feel an investment (the audience i mean)
so yeah i guess for a moment it might seem discouraging to us-
but it is in te end their relationship and their choices

i related w/ someone online for 4 months-while here at CS.
no one knew until after-2 "close" friends.
now im often ridiculed for it-that was 2 yrs ago...
then last year-a new guy-4 months-then met-

obviously neither worked out
but i get to take annoyance for that failure too...from members here
in open forum..?

very unsupportive.scold

so i would never say anything on forums-about me-
nor do i ever comment in those threads...

dunno

nuala: Well myself and Jim have met here nearly 2 years ago on this site....but i do see your point....neither Jim or myself have pleaded our undying love for each other out of respect for us.....We dont need to shout it from a high what we already know....and we dont need to tell it here on cs....we stick around for the friends we have made and if others need help we are there for them too.....I dont have a problem with your thread i think its a good point to make as i have seen some come on the threads and announce their love for each other only then a few weeks later announce it wasnt to be.....somethings i think should be kept private between both persons involved til they feel it going somewhere nice....that just my opinion.....

How very well put Nuala.......I am still waiting to meet my Prince.....I do wonder sometimes if he will be coming on a white horse......head banger

cristina: I'm suggesting that they should not celebrate here when they are not sure of the relationship!

If a person comes and goes every three months...i mean, why should that person be serious?
I hope someone sends me a flower with the thread name from 3 months ago proclaiming undying love as the flower message. I've been looking in the archives from 3 months ago for the last three hours and still not found it! What a waste of my time crying I did have an idea whilst I was wandering round the archives though... maybe we could have a "temporary lurrve smitten section" in the forums as well as a "possible permanently smitten section" heart wings

You are in the "temporary section", wake up!

Hon, archives won't do because they change names, pics, everything...including hair cut!
