hollandgirl: Those prevention and rehabilitation programs are on going al the time. The problem is that it is not working very well. Yes be it alcohol or drugs the problem is big. So far the problem is only getting bigger.
The problem with drug rehab programs, that many of them use another drug (metadol). So they get you off one drug and put you on another. Check

Please read the reports I put on here that will explain a lot more then I am able to do. You have not read this I can see. Get facts or go to google yourself and ask "should all drugs be made legal"
I used the wrong word free, I meant in my post to say; legal most on here understood this.

Conrad73: All Alcoholics therefore are Criminals??????
You are getting of the subject Conrad. In my first thread I said it wrong it should not have been free, but legal. Have you read all the reports? Hey I am only a voice in the wilderness.

I didn't say that. I said, that alcohol is legal, but we still have alcohol related crimes. So it's quite obvious that it's not an answer to make drugs "legal".

Truth? I think the whole idea is so irresponsible, that it's not funny. I am sorry if I am not into reading so called reports rationalizing something very simple. Instead of I am actually busy getting somebody who needs right now, on a drug rehab program. If he wouldn't be so damn far away, I would do it myself.
And for the rest? Just ask yourself that question. Would you like your kid (if you have one) being able to walk into a kiosk and buy some pot? Or heroin?
Not for the argument's sake, but for your own, I truly hope that your answer is no.
hollandgirl: Should drugs, ALL drugs be free for everyone?.................
The war on drugs has been lost a loooong time ago. You read about the large catch the cops make at times. Much ado it made about it. The truth is; Not even 10% is confiscated. Think how many people would lose their job alone in the police forse already.
How much crime would be elliminated, job lose for many there too, judges, jailhouse keepers etc. etc? Anything that is iligal has more of an attraction, would it be so when you can get drugs free and anytime, anywhere?
Definitely "NO", Each year about 438000 people in the United States die from illnesses related to cigarette smoking. How many people do you think drugs will kill???

I've read all of this thread with interest, but it never ceases to amaze me there are still people about with such outdated and blinkered opinions.

Given that most drugs are far less toxic Id go with a lot less

Of course the answer here is NO I am saying that when it is legal kids won't think it it so much "fun" to use as when is was not legal. This has proven to be so in countries like Holland.
Regulated legalization would soon dry up most stockpiles of currently illicit drugs — substances of uneven, often questionable quality (including "bunk," i.e., fakes such as oregano, gypsum, baking powder or even poisons passed off as the genuine article). It would extract from today's drug dealing the obscene profits that attract the needy and the greedy and fuel armed violence. And it would put most of those certifiably frightening crystal meth labs out of business once and for all.
This is where I am coming from that someday when all drugs are legal the above will take place. Of course in the meantime those who are al ready addicted need help now, and this is what you are doing and that is a good thing. I believe when something is legal it is de-glamourized.

You should be able to buy it like you can alcohol. Drugs are very cheap to make. I firmly believe that when made legal less people will start using. Mabye not in the very beginning.
It would appear that , that is true , more cannabis is smoked in London per head than in Amsterdam where it is legal, I would not say make all drugs free but I would say make them all legal , the only people that benefit from a war on drugs are the dealers , the politicians and all the people the tax payer pays to enforce the laws

I think alot of crime would be squashed. Look what happened when they ended prohibition. Buy making things illegal you creating a black market and that create salot more violence.
Look at the cops nowadays...they are just as corrupt and greedy as the people they are busting.
Alot of the crime is because they are hooked on drugs and they will find any way to get money for whatever reason.
I don't know about getting it free but not locking people up partying and not hurting anyone..IDK?
hollandgirl: I meant to say make it all legal , instead of free, my mistake.
I mean..why should everyone else pay for you to get your drug? I wouldn't want my grandkids walking among needles or seeing people all the time wasted but if you are somehwhere not bothering anyone then...
If you commit a crime because of it I guess you will have to go through some jail rehab....lol
All it does when you keep it all illegal is to waste lives, money imprisoning them or making them lose their jobs and enrich a bunch of scumbags.
If you take the "cool" out of it it isn't as exciting. If it were legal it wouldn't be so taboo which to alot of people is like a magnet.

But they are hurting someone, themselves and taking the risk to get hooked big time. By making drugs legal less kids may start using as it is de-glamourized then.
