Hugz_n_Kissez: Yeah good for you...you conversed with a few native men...and I am sure they told you exactly how they treat their women... Wow...what an expert on Native people...funny I have known and lived around them all my life yet your opinion is what counts the most....and as for dragging anyone down...sorry if my opinion and real version of the truth that I have actually lived and you have not..drags you down...but hey the truth hurts....and you living in my country...I am not so easy with....

Run for office and shut the f---k up. You really do put a bad name on your race, that is very unfortunate. I some how think that most native American's would have very hard time with your opinions, as they are Canadian's and Ameriacna's to. You are entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion you can go F---yourself.

FreedomLover: Perhaps your right, maybe all native men suck. So, I'm confused. Are you mad at the US government or native men?

Jesus Christ...How about just plain injustice...can ya get that though your thick American head or what????

Native men have nothing to do with anger...I simply stated fact....Both the Canadian and American governments are guilty of genocide against Native people...illegally stealing their lands and resources...and leaving them to live in poverty...and guess what is wasn't just yesterday...It's today too...So you tell me...How much of this you support and if it was your own people would you be angry????

You were just talking about native men and how bad they have treated you. What is the point in being angry if you are not willing to do something about it. Specifically what are you doing to make things better for your people? There is no need to insult to get your point across.

I really hope you do not kiss your mother with that mouth. Sailors could learn from you my friend. Just agree to disagree and let it go, or is this an issue of needing to win? A fool's battle of insensitivity to a personal issue against undying passion for a cause. This continuance is not very becoming of a man of any sort and personally it disrepects our greatest commodity and export- friendliness. Please just let it rest.handshake

I'm not a native american so I don't have the same investment in it as you. It is good that you stand up for your people. I hope that includes the native men as well. ;)

I don't think there is any land left to steal is there? I still think you are stuck in the past. I'm not calling you down, I'm trying hard to understand your position. I agree our government is corrupt, but most of them are. There is injustice all over the world. Should I fight every battle? I don't believe the reversations are forced anymore, are they?

How about you read up on it and find out...no there isn't any land land left to steal there is only land left to get back for us...land that was taken illegally according to the government laws of the day...laws entrenched in treaties and signed by the governments of the day...a law and a signed contract such as a treaty are all enforceable unless there is a statute of limitations....just like any other law....and that is why and how...Native people have and win land claims...it;s not hard to read up on or find out about...if you really want to....thumbs up

I have read the posts on the last few pages with a combination of my usual interest but in this instance, with absolute bewilderment at the level of 'bile' shown by some people here.

Some may claim to ahve done noble deeds and stood for noble causes in the community. However, I am struggling to understand how that justifies talking to people on this site, away from fighting social causes, with the level of arrogance and rude that has been show. It is beyond me.

Should there still not be respect accorded to others. Sure, be angry. But say so. Is there any need for rhetoric and degradation(latter includes both self and others). JMO.

I live in a country that has similar issues with our Aboriginal population. Heaven help us if we tried to deal with such issues, in the way shown on this thread. Sure there have been great injustices here, too. We can only try to right the wrongs from the past, but done so, with rational dialogue and conversations where people truly listen to each other. We are slowly getting there. Uluru (Ayers Rock) for example, has been handed over to the original owners, who have leased it back to the government with their own conditions, and which allows the fostering of continued understanding between white culture and that of the Aboriginal people. I visited Uluru this year. One of the most humbling, and sacred experience have ever had or likely to have.

peace

Hugz_n_Kissez: No I am sorry but I am not a conquered person and I give in to no one...I am who I am...I am a North American Indian and that's that...I take nothing out on no one except the ignorant who dare speak on something they know nothing about...I will not accept being a defeated person...that is not who I am nor who I ever will be...I have a life...a culture and a language that exists outside of the Canadian existence...there are also land claims being won all the time based on illegal surrenders...there is soooooo much that the general public is unaware of...mainly because they choose to be...I am not...I chose to learn...not just my own system but systems of a lot of different people and countries....I don't care how small we are...in Canada or the U.S....we are and always will be...sovereign independent nations...and that's my reality.....

Well, I guess that is your choice, a sad one, but its yours. As much as any government is willing to apologise and to give back, Canada and the land around it will never be the sovereign nation of your people again. It would be just as brutal and horrific for it to be taken from the new immigrants who have chosen to make Canada their home, not to mention the people who are Canadian born and bred. This is the same for the Maori in New Zealand, our government has settled huge treaty claims and are still in the process of settling many more, but NZ will never be a Maori sovereign state ever again. The only thing that can happen and should happen is the rebuilding of the culture and pride in it and the acceptance into the melting pot that is NZ.
We are all immigrants if you look back far enough, we have all come from different places and if you will pardon me using an old Native American saying "The land, the water, the sky cannot be owned by anyone, we are merely caretakers".Something to that effect, you'll have to forgive me if I am a little inaccurate.
We belong where we stand and only until we move. We are responsible for the welfare of the land as it how we live, but we can not own it!
This may sound a little trite, but I believe it is eloquent and correct.
Whether you are conceived there, or came on a boat, plane, train. If your history with the land is wrapped in thousands of years of tradition or in a land somewhere else, where you live is your responsibility and so your rightful place.

It does too: Here is a quote from you:
"Well I won't date Native men either...not because of the colour of their skin but because of the way they treat the women they are with...I was married to one for 10 years and haven't met a Native man yet who doesn't have the same pecking order when it comes to a relationship...

1) Friends
2) Booze
3) Girlfriend or wife
4) Kids"

I think the native men has pissed you off.

I think that is likely a reasonable consensus...however...even as things stand now her in Canada...on our small reserves...we consider ourselves sovereign nations...and that's because we never consented to Canada's dominion over us...none of us did....so it's different for different nations...nobody ever expects to have the totality of their land-base back..but they expect to have their laws...culture...language etc abided by because nobody ever agreed to relinquish any of it.....thumbs up

Right I was married to one..who represented those things..and I have seen several others who have...so what????

Does it mean I am angry at them???

Or does it mean I am smart and refuse to get involved with those types of men period...regardless of who they are???? I wouldn't care if they were martians,.,...You wouldn't see me getting involved with them...it just happens to be a pattern that I have seen with more than one Native man...are you gonna try to tell me that the same pattern is not pervasive in your own culture and that if it is...I should question you as to why you're sooooooooooo angry??????

laws of the day. You mean 200 years ago. Good grief, get over it. You guys lost, and the treaties are not worth the paper they were written on. Well, what about the African American, they also have a claim. They were a big contributor in making the USA what it is today. They feel they should be paid back as well. Don't forget the Chinese. They also shold be paid back as well for being put in camps durning the war. The list could go on.

PietroPaoloV: Well, they, USA, bothered to come into the WWII only when they were bombed by Japan 1941, and before that, they made business with both Germany, and war-torn England who they didn’t sponsor by any means, instead sell as much as possible, with interest. England, the proper saviors of Europe, together with them Russians! Where the bloody hell were these US supposed saviors of Europe in 1939, when the war started, and where were they in 1940? It's not a fu**ing fortnight we speak of here.

To continue, only one country, only one, has dropped the bomb, twice. On both occasions, it was not necessary to make it one..

So shove it up yours with your bloody smart act!

There is no country more feared in the world at this point, than the USA.
You know why?
Not because of its military strength.
We piss on that military parade.
Jesus, if people still think that it’s because it’s military might, they need to be knocked over the head with a comet.

USA has tried to invade poverty like Viet-Nam, Afghanistan, Korea, and smurfs have shown more results.

No, the fear USA know it holds in it palms, is that it can nuke anyone, and is willing to do so. They have done it once, oh, wait, twice…. so….

I fear the fact that still to this day so many Americans find it a treat to admire, something to be mighty proud about, when it’s the FU**ING same thing old James Bond movie plots were built around, with a cold war Soviet regime threatening the world with nukes aimed against America.

It’s all insane!

I'm sorry but obviously you don't know law very well...Treaties are the paper they are written on.,.they are binding contracts between the government and the Native people they were signed by....it doesn't matter how many years ago it was...they don't have any statute of limitations...can't just be torn up...the same as a contract today...so I suggest you read up on your law...Treaties and laws are not just insignificant pieces of paper...they are what land claims are being won on today...so it's not a matter of get over it...It;place.s a matter of proving whose land it is theses days...and i taken illegally...it was never sole off legally in the first place..... thumbs up
