Which one do you prefer? Suppose you are in France and in a bar or cafe you are served a bottle of wine with no tags on (and in fact it's Australia made). how do you understand where it is made?
Being someone who lives in France............. I would rather just have the grapes before a bunch of stange people with athletes foot and verrucas have squished them all to muck. Wine is vile, ewwww!

Listen, dude, this question is so impossible and odd.
You're asking what kind of air do I like to breathe the most. Air at 5m height, air at 10m height or air at 15m height.
Which grape, which wine?
What distinguishes a good horse? - It's an equal space between his ears, espeacially the left one.
Makes no sense
If I put a Bhurka on an Iranian woman, and a Bhurka on an Iraqi woman, and you was blindfolded whilst it was done, which one would turn you on the most as you as not allowed closer than 10 paces from her?

Obviously you're not a wine drinker. If it sucks, it's from Australia!
BTW my French Friend I wouldn't put a glass of wine to my lips that was made by crushing the grapes with bare feet either. Who does that anymore? The wine I make is probably better than anything you can buy. For store bought wine Give me Hungarian red wine any day.

BTW I'm not french, I'm international, and I don't care who makes it, it still tastes like poo to me, but I will have a cup of tea if the kettle is on!

Obviously you have not the slightest clue what you are talking about.
You do realize that there is a greater chance of your shops over there bringing in the crap Australian wine, which would not be so strange as it probably costs you more to import from Australia?
Australia have some brilliant Shiraz wine. Ever had Shiraz?
Cape Mentelle? Palandri Estate? Jasper Hill?
Once again, OK?
You can not talk about wine as French wine, Australian wine, Chilean wine, Italian wine. You can't even do it justice by talking grapes. Wine is the bloody nectar of the gods and you talk about it here like it was some sodding fastfood hamburger.

Does it matter where its made? Surely the scent of the bouquet that pleases the nose as you waft the glass, then taste and savour the myriads of flavours, from soft strawberry to sun dried oak, then you look at the colour, from deep crimson to an almost sunset type of red.. That’s what is important about wine my friend, its not like quaffing a lager straight from a bottle, every sip of wine is an experience.

Oh please, I don't go to a store to buy commercially made wine. I go to the vineyard and select the grapes myself. They are kind enough to remove the stems and crush them for me. I also don't believe in killing the natural yeasts on the skin of the grape which is why my wine is so complex and varies from one year to the next. My last vintage was a blend of the Tenet and Merlot grape. Prior to that I employed the Sangiovese grape from the tuscany region of Italy.
When it come to wine you are but a spectator at a sporting event whereas I am on the field of battle actually making the wine.

It took you more than an hour to find names of grapes in Wikipedia?

Bravo Pietro Wine - "The" most romantic beverage (In moderation- that is the 'Art") and of course mine is the best of all and its Australian
I personally feel that it simply depends on the bottle. Both countries make some excellent wines at comparable costs. I like to try a wide variety of wines from all over. (I do avoid California wines due to prejudice against the state, and enjoy several Texas wines.) Germany, Chile, and many other countries make good and interesting wines, too. For me, it depends on what I'm eating, who with, and my mood. (To get a good sampling without killing my bank account, I get something I like and something new from a shop called World Market. I'm not sure if they are just in Texas or not though.)
