I am helping My Son and Daughter in law plan a memorial service for there stillborn daughter. We want to plant a tree that will not grow to big, and will flower each year in April-May when she should have been born in memory of her. I dont really know the first thing about gardening, and am hoping for some ideas. Thank you bouquet

If i remember properly Morgan, theres trees that take to different soils, some might be good in acidic soil and some wont....
probally advisable to ask at a local garden centre as they would know what grows well in the local area and might offer some better guidance .....Sorry i couldnt be of more help

Crepe Myrtle is a beautiful tree and comes in a dwarf variety that only grows 3 to 5 feet... all the way up to the large variety which grows to 20 feet. It´s a flowering tree... that starts blooming in the spring and has flowers all the way through summer and comes in colors from white, pale pink, deep pink, lavender, purple and red. A really beautiful tree.

I'm not much of a gardener, but I will say I like the idea of planting a tree. I've got a plant from my grandmother's funeral 27 years ago. Sorry for the family's loss.

There is a Rose called May.

When my eldest was still born.... I asked for a park bench by the

sea.....some where to sit by myself and remember. Some one also

named a star after him. So each year on his birthday I can sit and

shed a silent tear, thinking although out of sight and mind you hold a

special place in my heart and it gives me comfort to sit in that tranquil

spot alone watching the sea and the sky!

In my minds eye I can almost see him running with his siblings that came after....

This turns the tears to a smile.

The crab-apple and cherry ideas are good. You can get particular versions of each that don't grow too big. I like the Japanese Maple too (Acer) but I am not sure that it produces leaves quite early enough.....they are small though and beautiful
