Last Beer

The sweat it forms upon his brow
And into his eyes it runs
A beer is what I need, says he
To quench this thirst of mine

Into the tucker box dives he
To find this amber liquid
Shock, horror, where has it gone
Some mongrel has thieved the treasure

Bewilderment it crossed his face
And eyes he cast about
Who is the one that this has done
That takes a man's life blood

Now Bluey he was still working
His shoulders weary slumped
Next to him was Cedric the pom
Up from Sydney town

Down the track Giovanni worked
With Abduhl by his side
And also there was Charles
And Ronald who's a bit of a clown

They all looked so innocent
But one with heart so black
Absconded from his tucker box
His one and only beer

Who wants a beer, yells he
Come and get one now
The ensuing stampede
Would've done a mob of cattle proud

Up the hill they ran full speed
With tongues on ground dragging
All but one, the guilty one
Who knew there was no beer

Cedric you filthy swine
He roared with rage consumed
I'll string you up by the family jewels
For filching my last beer

Cedric like a rabbit raced
Across the barren ground
While close behind in hot pursuit
He had murder in his heart

Stories told still to this day
That on a sunburnt plain
Once in a while you'll hear the sound
Of Cedric fleeing away

And in hot pursuit right on his heels
Abuse he hurls at him
Wait till I get my hands on you
You filthy mongrel pom

You can take mostly anything
That a man might possess
But never, never, ever
Take his last beer

I have had many things stolen from me, beer is definitely not one of them, don't like the taste, I love pop, mello yello is my current thirst quencher, so Cedric, don't you steal my mellow yellow!rolling on the floor laughing dancing boxing beverage delivery drinking
