Voodoo (Martin Laveau - Prologue)

In my life I was Lord and Master
Of all I chose on this my land
Singled out women as I pleased
Had them begging on their knees

Had slaves work my plantation
Nothing more than human cattle
Used the whip for insubordination
Some of them I whipped to death

So many vices, all in excess
Food and drink while others starved
Laughed and spat in their faces
Power coursed through my veins

One night while sleeping soundly
They came and broke in my house
Took out their bloody vengeance
Left me dying on the floor

Swore that peace I'd never find
Vengeance goes beyond the grave
Live in land where Voodoo rules
Die when voodoo time has come
