Heroes

A hero, a hero, yes you cry
We need a hero to rise this day
To show us how by bravery
A better way our life to lead

You point to racer from Grand Prix
So brave, so handsome, such a man is he
And yet I ask, what has he done
To aid the rest of mankind

Well what about this sportsman great
Surely there's a hero's pride
I must agree he's mighty great
But what's he done to aid our plight

Well then it's true the same applies
To all these warriors of might
Head and shoulders above they stand
Their light shines out, a beacon then

The heroes true so quiet be
And recognition they hardly see
Their reward's not fame nor riches stored
Nor mansions built on high hillside

Their reward comes from helping those
Where poverty is ruler
Despair and death walk hand in hand
Were it not for heroes

So next time look not up so high
To those clothed in glamour
The heroes true work silently
And many lives they're saving
