Time ticking backwards to memories there To remember a time; one that we shared I see my mistakes and perhaps I can erase The sadness I put right there on your face A touch on your cheek to a tear dropping down Can I still stop them from causing a frown? Let’s start from the point we were happy and free Then turn the clock forward and start over with me I’ll show you each day the love in my heart I hope you’ll allow the romance to start We were once just friends then I asked you for more You gave me your love and then I closed the door Afraid of the pain I had once felt before I shut you out and made giving a chore The day that you left I saw my mistake Pain overwhelmed me, I’m hollow and I ache So, turn back the hands on this magical clock Back to the time I asked you to stop I’ll give you my heart and let go of the fears Take a chance with you; let’s share our best years Please tell me my love that it isn’t too late For in you I have found my love and soul-mate

Wow! I have felt this way about my past that fueled all my poems of love and loss. "We were once just friends then asked you for more You gave me your love and then I closed the door Afraid of the pain I had once felt before I shut you out and made giving a chore" You helped me realize that I'm falling into the same pattern now with those 4 lines. Thank you for writing this wonderful poem!

Cafe2...you want them to crawl back to you!! Maybe you just need another delivery to the castle and raise the drawbridge! Keep 'em all inside! The fair maidens will be happy to have you.

Kelsey, glad you enjoyed. So much easier to push away than to be vulnerable, but sometimes it leads to regrets. Wish I knew when it was better to stay than to run.

There are many times I wished that I had a magical clock to turn back the hands of time to start over and erase my mistakes ... great write
If only we could Cloudysky, if only we could turn back time many of us would for so many different reasons. How do we know when someone should be just a friend or more? Who knows, perhaps realising that you can't see your future without the person in question? Lovely poem
