A Shadow Called Ego

Follow me, winter shadow, but do not wait
You won't be catching me on another date
Like a hoofed creature gallops a steady gait
Even a drunkard who canna' walk too straight
Mind there's no reason to call you my mate
Too funny are you, elongated so great
Nevermind laugh at all my gibberish prate
Under the light in a spinning circle I skate
And that is the moment I know you hate
For just then a twirling blob is your fate
Let's be nice and just call it 'au fait'
Not my perogative or purpose to state
I can't think of how else we can relate
Until only darkness makes you negate

This is a quite Freudian write Chris, it's amazing how the sonnet can convey so many strands of thought in only fourteen lines.

It's funny sometimes when we notice our attachments in life; work life, family, church, friends...and of course our shadow versus the the true oneness of self. There's so much interconnectiveness with life yet more and more somehow a huge indifference to nature, an almost "natural deficit dissorder"....wine

Yankee - An interesting way to write a poem, all the 'ates' eh?
your subject however did prompt me to look up about the id, ego and super ego as they were in my mind but I wasn't clear as to where they came from or what they represented. Turns out Freud used these three words to express the three theoretical constructs that are used to describe our 'mental life' uh oh After a discussion with my main squeeze on the subject he coined it all beautifully by saying that a man looks at a woman and his 'id' demands he 'take her now' so to speak, the ego says he must ask her permission to 'take her' and the super ego points out that presenting her with flowers and dinner will greatly improve his chances of being allowed to 'take her' laugh laugh if you catch my drift.
Ego is the one we are all most familiar with and it's good you are friends with yours thumbs up laugh
