R.I.P

They said three days will be the end
At the very most might be a week
There’s nothing more that could be done
A last kiss at the setting of the sun

They sent him home, there to die
Amongst his friends and family
Forgot to tell him what everyone knew
Before weeks end he’d meet his maker

Instead of down, he’d perked right up
He’d sit in bed and stories telling
One week passed and he was fine
Then the second and even third one

How we treasured those days and nights
As we sat around his bed listening
He was a man close to ninety three
And in his life had seen many changes

In the fourth week things slowly changed
You could see Death at bed head standing
At two am on the fourteenth of July
Peacefully he moved up to Heaven

For a man who was born an only child
Your life deeply touched so many
Rest in peace, a well earned rest
There in Heaven with Angels

I thoroughly enjoyed this one my friend.A poem that I thought was touching and yet forlorn. It gets better when I peruse it a second time.

Hi, steve1223,
Amongst his friends and family...As we sat around his bed listening... What a beautiful ending to what R.I.P. describes as a beautiful life that deeply touched so many. Condolences are sent for such great loss.
