Day 107

The threat is gone
no longer do we see
crude cresting on waves
washing ashore killing dreams.

The threat is gone
toxins unknown dispersed
into water’s moving force
cleansing itself anew,

nature’s balance caught
in the middle of it all
dangling from the lines dropped
spread across to rescue.

Plastic particles already suspended
transform the sub-surface world
feeding nature its poison pill
while tar balls still form to play

and the dead zone
Massachusetts-size
travels the Gulf's ocean floor
killing all entering its door.

The threat is gone
no longer do we see
our world transform itself
one cell at a time.

GNJ, this most topical poem highlights human beings foibles and self aggrandizing nature. Mother Nature does take care of her own in the end. You bring forth 2 questions to me; Was the threat (as we perceived it) ever there; Is the threat (that we now perceive) gone? Thank you. ;-)

Good poem and point gnj4u, also good point GG, as we speak there is an even bigger spill in the sea off China, that has not had anywhere near the same coverage. The ocean will heal itself...in time...No excuse, is it the oil companies, or the world's demand for oil that is at fault?.....so many questions...so few real answers.

funny how mother nature is our biggest threat, and yet, we are to her too...it's well put, and while the threat may be gone...i still am sad for all the death. sometimes i really hate the media for causing unnecessary feeding frenzies. but bravo, gnj, it's perfect! cheers

"We can only hope the ground, oceans, and air have the ability to heal from our continuous onslaughts." ... yes

gnj4u.... ty for your offering. Your write is powerful on so many levels.

What we do to the planet... Sometimes I swear I can hear both nature and earth weep, and I don't know what to do but honour their tears with presence sad flower

Hi, Ladybee42 and beautifulyou,
It is good to be aware of the cost nature pays and honor it. How to segregate need from pleasure and/or convenience is our challenge. Thank you both for your comments! First awareness, then education, then action. I feel as if I am just getting started in the process.
