Languishing Heat

Thick, sultry air assails the senses.
Languid breezes disinclined to blow;
Deny relief from an angry sun, relentless
And lazy waters barely flow.
Nothing moves; not beast nor man
And even time, itself, suspends.
And all endure as best they can.
To last a day that never ends.
So patience is a virtue,
A virtue now to exercise
A virtue that will see you through
Until you fly through cloudless skies.
As surely as the heat descends
Interminable as it seems,
I'll still be waiting when it ends
And stronger; closer to our dreams.

Hey Hackle thanks for reminding me that water is lazy while I have to work in this wonderful heat. I enjoyed your writing very much. Painted a nice picture, just awesome.
