Nearly all of the poems I have written are the product of inspiration. Most often from someone I loved or love's demise. Usually conceived in the dim light of depression on a napkin. This one's origin is obvious and is one of my first of my first love. I am however not a purveyor of unhappiness and have a few that are descriptive in nature, whimsical at a time, and compassionate at another.

I wrote this poem, after witnessing a fairly violent rainstorm, the beauty of the silence, before and following it, and the awesome happenings of nature in between inspired me ! I wrote it in 1969, while expecting my 1st. child, my dear old freind a poet himself, Raymond Trowbridge was part of this inspiration.

My daughter is 29 years old now. but, she has always been my gift. Her dad died when she was two ,with cancer. I thought her being born was the worse timing. but God knows what he was doing. I now have three grandchildren and a wonderful son-in law. She has always been a nice person and a loving daughter.
