Night

The moon has waxed and waned.....
Again and again I watch.....
Revolutions through the night sky.

Pondering...questioning...crying..laughing...
The knowledge is there...
Yet, I cannot bring myself to learn....the fear.

WORDS

Words are a great treasure of the truths and feelings spoken. They show a little of my person, who seeks to reach the heart that he loves, and thus, sometimes they call me a poet. For this reason, when writing them, I have to measure them with the feeling, each one that is transcribed. It only needs to have one weight. Within this understanding that I have, the words need to say something, just as I read them. This vigilance with the written words, I do only to please the feelings. I take the necessary care to write, this being my greatest and true treasure. I'm just love and affection, I have sensual thoughts and erotic attitudes.

Whiskey, Women, and Cards

Lips 'sticked, late night thrift rips fixed, neon shifts' clock ticks
Tricks whipped, bottles tipped, the tippers sip, sit back, sickly slick
Sittin' fit, hittin' hard shit, every bit they sift, drain, an' drip
Cigs lit, legit with gin grins and grit, sharp wits like sharp riffs

Chain Reaction

It is a better thing to be
One who hungers and is free
Than to stroll the lavish plains
With gilt-and-satin inlaid chains

Memory

I remember a sermon
about good intention paving
the priest raving
soul saving
money craving

I remember words that fell
from my fathers mouth
wasted on youth
obviously truth
all gone south

I remember my first love
a new way to see life
so I got me a wife
and tried to survive
but it was too much strife

So there are many memories
abiding in my head
friends long dead
children fed
relationships dry bled

Glancing back now I see
the mistakes I made
in the plans I laid
but now they fade
they never really stayed

Anywhere Cold As You

Alone in the cold, nothing hurts more than losing you.
The longer I waited, the thought of you slowly became faded.
I dreamt the day you'd appear again, but that's just a reflection inside my head.
It wasn't supposed to be you leaving, for a while it was unbelieving.
I sensed that you craved more, the arguments were hard to ignore.
I'd take a step back, you were always right on my tracks.
I overlooked our past for the sake of what we could still have,
it took me years to know none of it would last.
Sometimes I cry, you tore me down when you said good-bye.
I don't like how we went down in flames,
you always said I was to blame.
I gave you a second chance, I fell in love with you again at first glance.
You abused it, you had a hard time trying to commit.
You found love once more, another girl for you to adore.
You gave her love and a child, it was the first time you truly smiled.
I couldn't stand to see you dolled up in joy,
every woman you get with you destroy.
It's been hard, you've left my heart scarred.
My mind turns, the memory of you burns.
You live and you learn.
I keep close an image of you, one day I'll break down the barrier and push through.
No more blocked hearts, no more broken parts.
You shouldn't have made a promise you couldn't keep,
deep inside I'm becoming weak.
You said you'd given it your all, if you did you wouldn't have let me fall.
I don't trust a word you say, not yesterday and not today.
It was always easy letting you in, you tore apart a cancer and that's your greatest sin.
I admit, this is the hardest thing I've had to do.
One day I'll pursue, something much better than you.
Your ego is immense, eventually it'll all make sense.
You'll realize it's your loss, you let me go and now I'm shining like gloss.

He Plants Kisses On My Back

Knick knack, paddywack, give the dog a bone,
Give this old man a home,
He says hi to you everyday,

If it's David and Goliath at every stand,
Goliath's gonna get the upper hand,
And he's gonna walk right over me,

It's not enough being myself,
You would choose somebody else,

I've seen the birds taking flight,
Kiss and fly into the night,
And you were right to walk right out on me,

I'm giving you all that I can,
To be a big and better man,
To be the man the world wants me to be,

I've seen the birds taking flight,
Kiss and fly into the night,
And you were right to walk right out on me.

Tundra

Black ship of night
sailing through the world
& the moon an orange slice
tangy to the teeth
of lovers who lie
under it,
sucking it.

somewhere there are palm trees,
somewhere the sea
bluely gathers itself up
& lets itself fall again
into green,

somewhere the spangles
of light on the ocean
dazzle the eyes,
but here in the midnight city,
the black ship of night
has docked
for a long, dark stay,
& even the citrus moon
with it's pockets of juice
cannot sweeten the dark.

then the snow begins
whirling over the Pole,
gathering force over Canada,
sprinkling the Great Lakes with sugar
which drowns in their deep black-cups;
it is drawn to the spires
of this wonderful place

& the flurries come
scampering at first,
lighthearted, crystalline white,
but finally
sucked into the city
as into a black hole
of space.

the sky is suddenly pink-
pink as in flesh; breasts,
babies' bottoms. night is
day; day is whiter than the
desert, the city stops like a heart;
bluejays dip & veer
& come to rest
under the snow-capped
water tanks
reminding us the
tundra of the soul
is always softer from
a booth inside the
coffee shop at
the edge of the universe.

Deja Vu

Each day I wake up
it’s the same as before.
I learn new skills
share and give more.

Every time I wake up to a new dawn
I feel the same as when I was born.
My heart begins to ache as I learn who I am,
the pain I can fight, I’m sure I can.

I face the same things without a clue,
But repeating each days mistakes that’s not new.
I have been here time and again
it’s called Deja Vu.

Red Robin

Sharing an appetizer and a desert with a friend
Cheesy Mozzarella Twists and Cinnamon Sugar Doh Rings
And a wish the Packers would have a good end
Where is the sugar on the donuts, should have gotten Saucy Bone-In Wings
Playing trivia and pool on the electronic device on the table
Having a Coke because there was no Mello Yello
I would have gone to a movie instead if I was able
Stuffed in like sardines next to a lonely older fellow
Got a replacement for the sugarless donuts
No extra charge for the new ones from our waiter guy
They still had about half the sugar I wanted, which was nuts
Next time I'll order the Mountain High Mud Pie!

About this poem:
Red Robin is a good resturant, just got unlucky with the donuts, and the Packers later that night.
